This is a time of great flux and many of us feel uncertain and are questioning our traditional roles, work and sense of identity. Many of us are being asked, or forced, to re-evaluate different aspects of our lives. These questions can be very challenging and yet, they can also provide extra-ordinary opportunities for life-enhancing change.

Not everyone is called to explore and work with these emerging expressions of who we are as men. But for those of us who are, it can often feel like a deep search and processof transformation, almost a rebirth.

Here’s an opportunity for men to gather in support of each other’s transformations and transitions.

Authentic masculinity is balanced and well rounded, potently creative and well-integrated with the inner feminine and inner child.In an individual he confers a strong earthy yet flexible stability, is simultaneously dynamic and gentle, active and contemplative, firm and tender.

He is in a constant state of attentiveness to the callings of his heart and his soul.

The authentic masculine is much more than a SNAG.

Of course, the above is an ideal but one which is worthy of pursuit. It doesn’t mean that we all must become Snags (Sensitive New Age Guys) or fit any other stereotype. It’s about finding our own unique individual balances that emerge from within. This is the aim of this multi-layered, evolutionary group process.

Explore and Embrace Your Inner Leader & Outer Role Model

An important aspect of this evolutionary picture of our masculinity, is that it is preparing us to be strong role models, inspirational leaders and mentorsfor the boys and the young men who will follow us. It’s about rediscovering and developing the positive faces of the equally authentic patriarch.

Using myth and story, movement and dance, active and passive meditations, sharing and group processes, we will explore each of these individually and with their corresponding goddesses and, their child-like and life-enhancing aspects.

Together We Will Explore Eight Faces of the Masculine

This course involves exploring experientially eight faces or archetypes of the masculine, all the way from Mars to Shiva, along with a number of his feminine counterparts, with the inner child and the inner adolescent.

Daniel has created and developed a range of inner and outer practices for accessing the different parts of ourselves, whether you call them archetypes, sub-personalities, roles or voices, planets and asteroids. The masculine aspects explored in an evolutionary sequence in this process include

♦ Mars: The warrior god of desire, action, assertiveness and anger.

♦ Zeus/Jupiter: the benevolent King, deity of growth, expansion and freedom.

♦ Chronos/Saturn: positive and negative patriarch, the tough love teacher of wisdom.

♦ Eros: the god of love, mischievous, youthful, playful and passionate.

♦ Chiron: the Wounded Healer, medicine man, teacher and mentor.

♦ Uranus: wizard, revolutionary, mad scientist, liberator and awakener.

♦ Shiva: yogi, spiritual wild man, god of tantra and enlightenment.

Knowledge of the archetypes is not required to be able to participate fully, only an open mind and a willingness to explore and open yourself to these aspects of your very self.

Your Facilitator

Daniel Sowelu is a multiskilled therapist, astrologer, sacred tour leader, professional trainer, father and stepfather in his 39th year of private practice. He has worked with men throughout his career, leading his own groups in Australia, on desert retreats, and in the men’s movement in Western Australia. He has taught meditation and astrology to male inmates in the former Fremantle Prison and has worked with senior indigenous elders in the Kimberley, Central West and Central Australian regions.
