It’s a good thing that it’s the Scorpio time of year, because we will need to draw from being penetrating, courageous and tenacious aspects of the sign to move through the various challenges of the month, while reminding ourselves that underneath this deeply potent energy is a huge heart filled with love, juice and sensitivity.
So, as we face a number of head-on challenges, and a great deal of chaotic instability, it’s not just about toughening up. It’s also about threading our way through our vulnerability, facing our shadow areas with humility and compassion, while keeping our hearts open.
Sun in Scorpio squaring Saturn conjunct Kali and opposing Uranus in Taurus
This is an early taste of the third and final round of this year’s Saturn Uranus Square, representing that titanic struggle between old structures and new innovations, orthodox belief systems with more heightened human consciousness, between rigidity and flexibility. (one which will peak unfortunately on Christmas Eve, so we can expect some psychodramatic family system outbreaks at the time!)
The Sun opposite Uranus talks about radical and unpredictable change, physical and material instability and a great deal of psychic and mental chaos. Within this messiness though are freakish lines of magical and liberating energies. Whereas the Sun squaring Saturn and Kali, who are now exact, meetings hitting major roadblocks internally and externally. The three points of this T-square then represents an increasingly pressurised and potentially explosive dynamic.
Consequently, we need to be very careful about what we do or don’t do with our energies around this. While a certain alchemy is created within the pressure cooker, to ignore or resist releasing some of the build-up (i.e., tweaking the pressure valves) can turn the energy very destructive, to ourselves and to others.

Sun in Scorpio trining Pallas Athena in Pisces
This is the one and only “positive” aspect to the Scorpio Sun at the beginning of this month! Pallas is a subtle and supremely intelligent warrior goddess who has a capacity for the kind of surgical one pointedness that is also inherent in Scorpio.
So, while the Sun is facing multiple challenges and a messy psychic environment, this is a clear line of energy that supports being able to penetrate the mess, and the mysteries, inherent in this month pressure cooker. Whether you call it intuition, heightened consciousness or emotional intelligence, this aspect calls on each of these layers of awareness to help understand, to recognise the shadow elements as well as the gifts of this time and, to be able to navigate the territory with a subtle intelligence. This will enhance the quality of your meditations as well is your ability to focus, within the craziness of this time.
Mercury in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn
This is another extremely tough transit, one that takes our minds, beliefs and thinking processes through an intense processes of purification and potential transformation. Pluto specialises here in dredging up the roots of old belief systems, does some serious deconstructing around the foundations of our mental faculties and, show up some deep shadowy areas behind our conscious minds. This kind of territory can be deeply disturbing for the somewhat rationalistic and idealistic aspects of Libra, as the air signs tend to want to gravitate towards observation and insight, as opposed to having to get down and dirty in the less attractive aspects of our thinking.
As a transit, it often coincides with significant power struggles, obsessive thinking and compulsive behaviour, usually driven by ancient forms of psychic emotional debris being pushed to the surface.
Mercury trine Jupiter, sextile Venus conjunct Juno in Sagittarius
Otherwise, Mercury is in fine form this month! Starting out in the gracious Libra, he will be stepping into Scorpio on the sixth and then into Sagittarius on the 25th. So, the way this planet of communication and learning operates this month will go from the element of the air, where it is most comfortable; into the watery emotional realms of Scorpio where it takes on far more emotional depth and then into the fiery extrovert energies of Sagittarius, where Mercury’s love of learning can turn more easily into inspired action.

Venus conjunct Juno in Sagittarius sextiling Jupiter
This is a potent and loving union of two goddesses at different levels of relationship evolution; Venus as a goddess of love who had many affairs along with her marriages to Mars and Vulcan on one hand and Juno, as the traditional goddess of marriage, committed relationship and fidelity. It could be suggested that Juno is a more mature and involved form of Venus.
Their uniting brings relationships in general into strong and relatively clear focus, after a murky and nebulous period while squaring Neptune in the last week of October. In Sagittarius, they represent the creation of a balance between committed relationship and the need for freedom of expression. And they can both be feisty and angrily judgemental if they are not being fully met.
However, the Jupiter sextile brings a great deal of positive expansive energy to their expression (and links Juno to her archetypal husband!) while juicing up both intellectual and artistic creativity. For the three of them together, knowledge can be very sexy.
Venus and Juno also trine Parvati in Aries and Medusa in Libra this month!
Mars in Scorpio conjunct Medusa in Libra
Many of you have remembered or recognised that this is a very Medusa influenced, and inspired, time of our lives. And that her and Mars have been doing their own form of tango through Libra for the last six weeks.
This very lethal and powerful warrior combination, especially now that Mars is in Scorpio, will continue through the month before separating after the eclipse. If the two are working well together, then we can achieve a great deal as their passion and drive has tremendous tenacity and staying power, especially if given specific focus, whether physical projects, desires or those goals closer to the deepest layers of your hearts.
Partial Lunar Eclipse with Sun in Scorpio opposite Moon in Taurus at 27°
Friday, November 19th, 9:03 AM GMT, 5:03 PM AWST, 8:03 PM ADST
Astronomically and energetically, this would be a great time to be at Uluru as the eclipse peaks exactly on sunset.
You might remember that eclipses act like massive depth charges into the psychic environment of whatever is happening astrologically. So, each eclipse has its own unique way of intensifying both good and difficult aspects that are occurring at the time.
As I mentioned earlier this is one of the best eclipse I have seen since 2011, when considering the aspects to both the Sun and Moon.
The Scorpio Sun is conjunct Mercury, the South Node of the Moon and the goddess priestess Vesta, while a Taurus Moon conjuncts the North Node of the Moon.
Such a powerful activation of the South Node, which is at the 1st° of Sagittarius, will activate past life histories and territory around this intersection point between Scorpio and Sagittarius in our individual charts, which will include the influence of the pre-Christian goddess traditions. Some of that material will be some old karmic residues while doors can open to memories, knowledge and skills gathered over many lifetimes to do with Scorpio, Sagittarius and Vesta.
The eclipsing Moon in Taurus on the Gemini North Node opens us up emotionally to the visions of our potential future, both collective visions for everyone on the planet and specific visions for ourselves in whatever house in our individual charts has the cusp between the two signs. Whatever the case, it is a good time to be meditating and any other practice that drops us into the bodily and emotional aspects of our intuitive and instinctual knowing.
