We start the month in the Dark Moon phase, 18 hours before the New Moon, traditionally a time of deep inner processing, emotional and psychic shedding and, preparation towards the monthly rebirth. This dark Moon has been additionally intense, with the Moon crossing Pluto in the last hours of January symbolising a difficult birth before the joy of bursting out with the New Moon in Aquarius.
We start the month with a retrograding Mercury, plus Venus and Mars, in Capricorn, providing a deeper earthy tone for much of the month beneath the more exuberant energies of Aquarius. This is a good combination for getting things done, for practical achievement and for staying grounded at a time when the Waterbearer urges us towards the heavens. (He is brilliant at ideas, not always good with manifestation!)
Uranus has now gone forward motion, while he and Saturn are finally separating from their long-standing square. Both movements will go some of the way with relieving collective pressure and frustration. However, we are getting a last stoush between the two with……….
Aquarius Sun conjunct Saturn squaring Uranus in Taurus!
Sun Saturn conjunctions call for focused, disciplined, concentrated energy towards dealing with both the immediate necessity and the creation of long-term foundations. It gives us access to the wise, measured aspects of the masculine who is a master of manifestation (as opposed to seeing Saturn is simply the patriarch, as immature Uranians will tend to do) On a deeper level, Saturn is part Shiva and part earth magician, and in Aquarius, he wants to bring lightning down to earth!
Squares to Uranus are highly unstable, unpredictable time bombs, so expect the unexpected to continue. His trademark spirit of creative and revolutionary change can either go hyper radical or implode badly emotionally or in our nervous systems. So, be careful!
Mercury retrograding in Capricorn conjunct Pluto
The planet of the mind dives into the underworld, giving him greater depth and power, along with a deeper longing to mine the mysteries of the unconscious and the mystical worlds, including processes of deep change. This can also have us revisit difficult memories, unacknowledged trauma and learning difficulties, as part of some major neuronal reconstruction. There is nothing superficial about this, as it seeks to create a better link between the conscious and unconscious. Mercury goes forward motion on the 4th.
Venus conjunct Mars in Capricorn
Here is a terrific union of two traditional lovers, who together can generate tremendous passion, sexual and creative juice. In Capricorn this is somewhat toned down but nevertheless has great depth underneath the Goats rather defensive/protective mantle.
In one of the best dynamics in the whole chart, this conjunction trines Uranus, sextiles Jupiter in Pisces and sextiles the healing goddess Hygeia in Scorpio, a combination which enhances emotional availability, sexual healing and having some good quality fun!
Venus and Mars Square Chiron in Aries
While the above offers great openings in our hearts and in our love lives, we can also expect to meet inner wounds, particularly around the wounded and wounding masculine, that get in the way of greater intimacy and quality relationship. Whether this arises from within or is reflected outwardly in others, Chiron is a voice the demands that we face that wounding within ourselves through focused therapeutic and spiritual work.
Mars in Capricorn sextile Jupiter trine Uranus
Here the masculine warrior is in physical construction mode while in Capricorn and both Jupiter and Uranus enhance his ability to get things done, through additional flow and even excitement and inspiration. It’s another reflection of this month’s theme, that of giving form to great ideas, visions and possibilities.
Black Moon in Gemini exactly square Neptune in Pisces
This is the murkiest of our current transits, as both collude to bring up and flush out ancient forms of psychic emotional trauma, particularly by distortions to the sacred feminine. While this also reflects the emergence of the omicron variation on a psychic level it can often surface as feelings of dread, from some unnamed sources. The best response to this is to engage in any practices that support intense alchemical processes of purification. (The Golden Kali Meditation on my website is one of those).
Jupiter in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus
This is another brilliant aspect, in many ways two sky gods supporting each other’s actions, two deities of higher knowledge and who stretch us beyond our mundane/conservative mindsets, towards the unorthodox, the mystical and the scientific. When we can plug into them, we can experience great freedom, inspiration and joy, all much needed at this time.
