May is looking like the most forward moving month astrologically for a long time, thanks to some beautiful, and highly visible (as many of you have found) Venus Jupiter activity. Good for our hearts, good for our relationships, at least traditionally.

Even better in a broader sense, is that Jupiter sextiles the transformative and empowering Pluto, while still conjuncting Neptune in Pisces. These sextiles create a deep, rolling wheel of positive energy for emotional, spiritual and psychological evolution.

In turn, the sextiles interact well with many other parts of the chart, including Mercury, Ceres, Persephone, Hecate and the Nodes of the Moon!

As we’ll see below, its not all smooth sailing but the two eclipses add even more voltage, enough so that even the difficult aspects can be moved.

Welcome also to another round of eclipses, just in time to make things even more interesting astrologically. In fact, we start the month with a partial new moon eclipse at 10° in Taurus, conjuncting the God of love Eros and the wizard revolutionary Uranus. This is a live wire of high-energy that is simultaneously unpredictable, unstable, awakening and liberating.

The second eclipse is on Monday the 16th of May (at 12.11pm in Perth, 2,11 PM in Sydney) and is a total lunar (full moon) one that is simultaneously brilliant and tough. With the Sun and Moon at 25° of Taurus and Scorpio respectively, this chart has multiple trines and conjunctions plus squares to Saturn and Shiva!

As you will see, we are at a major turning point karmically in all our lives and these two eclipses, in very different ways, will catalyse great change and after an initially difficult passage will lead us potentially towards a very different future.

Sun conjunct Moon, Eros and Uranus in Taurus

Consequently, this month is one of dramatic change, with a strong push towards breaking up old structures and security systems which in turn can liberate higher expressions of our individual uniqueness. This includes significant challenges to stagnant relationships as Uranus and Eros combining heighten the desire for individual freedom.

This solar eclipse, like any of its kind, hyper charges all the symbolic energies of the New Moon; new beginnings, birth and initiation, a new union of masculine and feminine symbolised by the Sun and Moon. An eclipsing New Moon’s energies lasts for months rather than weeks and so this new beginnings will be seeding itself in whatever part of your chart contains 10-13 degrees of Taurus.

Expect significant movements and new developments in whatever house that is. (If you don’t know the answer to that question perhaps it’s time for a reading with Daniel or to take one of his live or recorded courses!?)

Sun and Moon sextile Mars in Pisces

Sextiles to Mars, even when Mars is the relatively placid sign of Pisces, support us to be able to translate our ideas, visions and creativity into physical action and manifestation.

If we imagine Taurus in his capacity to bring spirit down to earth, dramatically heightened by the eclipse and Uranus, then there are some awesome creative opportunities here for inspired action.

Sun, Moon, Eros and Uranus opposite Hygeia in Scorpio

Even though oppositions tend to be difficult, I can help breaking out into a smile with this one. Combining the radicalising energies of the eclipse, and those of the high voltage Uranus, lining up with a goddess of miraculous healing and sacred sexuality is simply too delicious, spiritually and tantrically. Expect some fireworks if you are doing the right practices or, taking the risk to drop into deeper places of intimacy and vulnerability.

Mercury in Gemini trine Pluto in Capricorn sextile Jupiter in Pisces

Mercury in Gemini can bring out some of the best in this planet of the mind, as Gemini is home territory, enhancing its brilliance, flexibility and dexterity. And yet it can also be very tricky because he tends to be even more cerebral, rational and superficial at the expense of layers of truth buried in the subconscious and unconscious. This sets up all sorts of dynamics that can feel like there are gremlins in the machinery, when communications go awry, emails get lost, and when what’s not been felt or acknowledged creates havoc despite our conscious intentions!

This Trickster element is even more exaggerated as Mercury goes retrograde on the 10th, backing into Taurus for a week on the 24th then going forward motion on July 4th.

However, during this whole month Mercury continues to trine Pluto and sextile Jupiter, which is actually a terrific combination because, despite the inconveniences of the retrograde actions, and despite Mercury is tendencies towards superficiality in Gemini, there is an ongoing relationship between mind and, these two agents of transformation and empowerment, of grace and forward movement.

Mercury conjunct Parvati in Gemini, sextile Venus in Pisces

Here Mercury is bringing some very positive focus on relationships. In traditional charts, he is sextiling the Venus Jupiter conjunction in Pisces, a quite beautiful three-way relationship that enhances communication with loved ones, the love of creativity inherent in Venus and confers a very positive outlook around love, and life, in general.

Venus conjunct Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces

Venus in Pisces is said to be exalted in the old teachings because this position confers an ability to love deeply, with both spiritual openness and mystical intensity. Now Jupiter and Neptune beautifully magnifies this capacity, while a sextile to Pluto is a tremendous depth and sexual potency.

Venus sextile Pluto in Capricorn squaring Black Moon in Cancer

It is not all perfect sailing for Venus, and therefore in our relationships this month. Her sextile to Pluto speaks of relationship experiences that are profoundly moving and even transformative, as it confers greater connection to the energies of our lower chakras. The square to the Black Moon though, while drawing her into similar depths to that of Pluto, is much more demanding and represents the dark side of our passage in our relationship evolution. Learn more about the mysterious Black Moon, her gifts and her challenges.

Saturn in Aquarius Squaring Nodes of the Moon, Saturn going stationary in Aquarius

Saturn is heading towards retrograding in early June, on the fourth, which means that he is basically going to go stationary at 24 to 25° of Aquarius from May through to July. In terms of the collective deconstruction and reconstruction processes that we’ve all been under these last three years, this is a period of pausing, of review and a somewhat slower period that supports consolidating our gains, while cleaning up some old business.

Saturn Squaring Nodes of the Moon

Like Saturn going stationary, this much bigger picture aspect tells us that we are at the midpoint, and a turning point, in long-term karmic processes. This is why a lot of people are reporting spontaneous upwellings of past life material, visions and unresolved karmas along with access to past life sources of skills and abilities and knowledge that seek to be materialised in this life.

This aspect also puts the squeeze on any patterning, unresolved issues or trauma, particularly around patriarchal influences and misuse of power experiences, whether in this life or others. This demand to work on such territory is necessary for us to be out of step forward into a future more infused by the North Nodes opportunities.
