THIS MONTH’S ASTROLOGY

We continue to make our way through a particularly intense time karmically, with lots of support in our spiritual and healing journeys accompanied by intense demands for purification, shadow work and diving into our psychic emotional bedrock.

Relationships are front and centre, closely intertwined with the great healers and transformers; the dark goddesses have a hand in every focal point of the chart, while some wild and liberating energy infects our thinking and, we are being offered great openings into our souls history and purposes!

Here the Gemini Sun shines its light on the goddess of marriage who in turn is being accompanied by the great yogi and tantric deity Shiva in what could be considered to be a form of sacred marriage. Its focus is on the desire for quality sustainable long-term connection on one hand, while triggering the great polarity between relationship connection and the desire for individual autonomy and freedom.

Venus is in her last days of her transit of Cancer, (going into Leo on the sixth) where she has great emotional depth and longing for love and security. She is trining Neptune in Pisces which opens her energy into the sensitive, intuitive and mystical layers of ourselves, which is often accompanied by tremendous and unconditional heart openings. She also has a very sweet sextile to Ceres in Virgo, another deeply maternal energy that is abundant, earthy and fertile. (Note the resonance with Laksmi!)

The potential for floating in oceanic rounds of love, safety and even ecstasy with the above aspectsis however pierced and threatened by an intense opposition from the transformative power of Pluto (another peaking on the sixth). Pluto/Venus hard aspects like this have a reputation for power struggles in relationship, for intense experiences that force upon us transformation and hard courageous looking into our shadow areas.

The Sun, Juno and Shiva core of the chart, a conjunction which will tighten and continue through the whole month, also sextiles Pallas Athena in Leo alongside the Black Moon and, with Chiron in Aries. (All of these have minor aspects to Hekate in Cancer, bringing the Witch Queen/Medicine Woman into the scene as well.)

Pallas Athena is enormously empowered by her current union with the Black Moon and in turn, the two are them trine Chiron the Wounded Healer, in what is an awesome three-way connection of healing power drawn into the Sun Juno Shiva conjunct. As the month goes on, these three also trine a fifth healing agent in the form of the kundalini goddess of healing Hygeia.

So, there is no lack of healing support, grace and power this month, which includes around our relationships and sexuality. But of course, we cannot sit around and wait for it to happen organically. We have to do the work but however deep and often scary some of that is, we can catch these waves of energy to help us move through the gnarly bits so that we can get the gifts lying beneath.

Mercury, now in forward motion in Taurus, is 4° away from being exactly conjunct Uranus, that sky god revolutionary who will do just about anything to crack us open, free us from stagnant situations and limiting thought, while waking up neuronal pathways and branches in our chakra networks that we never knew existed.

He shares with Shiva (they are semi-sextiling each other) the ability to lift us into exalted states of consciousness, with an accompanying greater mental and intellectual dexterity, innovativeness and freedom. Along the way, things can get pretty chaotic, crazy even. Both are likely to peak when the conjunction goes exact on the 5th!

We can also expect our intuitive, creative and innate psychic capacities to get additionally electrified at this time, with some exceptional breakthrough possibilities in our spiritual lives.

In the midst of both exulting energies and those of heavy weather, here the male warrior is at his shiny extrovert best, it is good to have the kind of can-do and will-do energy to drive some positive action and achievement when things are a bit messy. (at least potentially. Of course, whenever Mars is active you will always find some dickheads to act out badly, and when in Leo, because of the Lion’s power, that can go really badly!)

The energy of Mars will progressively get more refined and even more powerful in the course of the month as he catches up with the feminine warrioress Pallas Athena and the Black Moon, a three-way conjunction which will tighten and colour most of the month.

Mars allows us access to the raw energy, and the raw material, of the warrior masculine that is in a process of constant evolution in conscious individuals, symbolically and spiritually heading towards Shiva consciousness.

For me this is the highlight of the month, where a visionary planet joins a mysterious, magical and visionary North Node of the Moon, a once in every 12 year event. Anytime a major player crosses the North Node, we get provided with more pieces in the jigsaw puzzle that can be loosely called our soul purposes.

The expansive nature of Jupiter is especially opening of these portals, and the two lining up in Taurus talks about visions of future lifestyles that are kinder to ourselves, to our fellow travellers and to the earth itself. It enhances all the current surges towards sustainability, use of resources, recycling and alternative power supplies. And of course, this is all in potential and how it expresses is dependent on the level of consciousness in the individual.

Obviously in order to move towards this kind of vision necessitates really fundamental, structural transformation. This is currently reflected by the fact that the deep change agent Pluto is squaring both Nodes. We are right in the middle of this intensely karmic crucible.

Here is another example of the contrast of heightened consciousness and intense psycho-spiritual processes, demanding that we work with and open upper and lower chakras, mind and body, light and shadow.
