THIS MONTH’S ASTROLOGY

Sun in Taurus conjunct North Node, Vesta, and Mercury, Moon conjunct Lilith in Virgo

Taurus is very busy this month, as along with this stellium or multiple conjunction is Uranus, Shiva and Juno, all of which will be joined by Jupiter on the 17th.

In typical Taurean fashion, this is normally a time of slow steady consolidation, dealing with the practicalities of physical reality, of building different forms of security and stability. But this is not a “normal” Taurean month, as the radical change agent Uranus will be the star attraction on the Lunar Eclipse on May the 6th. We can expect some dramatic, chaotic and potentially liberating energies and events.

This classical Taurean capacity for dealing well with the earth plane is reinforced by a supportive sextile from Saturn and by some interesting contributions by two earth based goddesses, in the form of the priestess Vesta and by a sextile to the Witch Queen/Medicine Woman Hekate. Both serves to deepen the expressions of Taurus, strengthen its primal core, while bringing in a certain amount of magic that often lies dormant within the sign.

This latter support is very timely, as the Black Moon in Leo squares the stellium, a great challenge to the sign by dredging up a great deal of old psychic emotional baggage for purification.

The Sun trining the Moon is another stabilising influence, bringing together these two earth signs in a Moon phase that proceeds the opposition of the coming eclipse. Here again is another twist brought about by the goddesses. The quiet depth of the Virgo Moon, who leans towards introversion and prefers to operate behind the scenes is being significantly stirred by the fierce and passionate feminist warrior Lilith, in a very tight and subsequently powerful conjunction.

An opposition to Saturn in Pisces sets the scene for some skirmishes between the wild feminine and the hoary old patriarchy on superficial levels while the deeper Saturn, that wily and wise old man, will test as out around our maturity in handling these age old struggles.

This is also one of the great challenges of this month reflected in multiple places in the chart: what we do or don’t do, with our anger and rage. Each combination that has the capacity to create greater freedom in our lives but ones that are handled badly could become extremely volatile and potentially explosive. Better to take these challenges into expressive forms of emotional release therapies, breath work, active Kali or Kundalini meditations so we can release the energy safely.

Paralleling the Lilith/Saturn opposition, we have Mars in Cancer squaring a Medusa/Chiron conjunction in Aries, and a close Venus/Kali conjunction in Gemini.

Each of these have some amazing healing potentials, each can be profoundly erotic in a wild and tantric way, and each can give us opportunities for lessening the kind of personal, ancestral and collective pain that we all carry around the sacred feminine and its relationship to the masculine.

The Venus conjunct Kali has a similar edginess to that of the Moon and Lilith, with the same potential for finding and channelling enormous sacred and tantric power into our relating.

Here the goddess of love, normally playful, youthful and a little lightweight in Gemini, is infused with the energy of the fierce and magnificent Kali. If the latter is happy and feeling fully met (a tall order for the average mortal!) She will bring great passion and fire into our loving and sexual expression. Every time Kali visits, she pushes us to taking risks in our expression, she engages our lower chakras to directs the energy into our hearts and she will demand honesty and courageous truthfulness. She wants our freedom!

If things are not going well, she will move into demon-battling mode!

Fortunately, the conjunction has fabulous aspects to Jupiter, Medusa and Chiron in Aries and to the highly erotic and healing conjunction of Hygeia and Eros in Aquarius. All of these support great healing and further evolutionary movement in our relationships!

In his last weeks in Aries, Jupiter is squaring Pluto who is now, however briefly, in Aquarius. Given the depth of many of the processes facing us this month, this is great news as Jupiter lubricates the wheels of transformation, even the wheel of karma itself, while giving us more faith, trust and courage to move well with life changing energies. Jupiter then goes into Taurus on the 17th, beginning his year-long transit of the cosmic Bull’s territory to enhance this earthy, fertile and creative part of ourselves. Keep an eye on my Facebook pages for a post about this transit.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse May 6th

(3:23 AM AWST, 5:23 AM AEST)

What is unique to this particular one, is that the eclipsing Sun in Taurus will be conjunct the wild, unpredictable and magical revolutionary Uranus. In turn these two will square the Black Moon in Leo and, the Hygeia/Eros conjunction in Aquarius.

In this dynamic the spirit of radical and liberating change is almost explosively heightened as is the energies of deep and magical healing, the energies operating between chakras and the surges of purificatory power from our lower chakras.

You can see why I am offering a live workshop in Katoomba on the day after, as another opportunity to make use of the dynamic energies of this time. Once again, I encourage you to use your own favoured spiritual and healing practices on and around this peak on the sixth. Go here to join us on May 7th in Katoomba.

Go well with it all!

With love and blessings,

Daniel
