THIS MONTH’S ASTROLOGY
October is an extra busy month for Libra with the Sun, followed by Mercury on the fifth, joining Pallas Thanes, Persephone, Lilith, Mars and the South Node of the Moon already in the sign. And then we have a powerful Solar New Moon eclipse on the 14/15th. So, the element of air is being increasingly energised, while the presence of Mars provides for the translation of thought into practical action, and the three goddesses draw from the deeper reservoirs and earthy power of these sacred feminine warriors.
At least this is the ideal and, an opportunity over the month to bring the brilliance of the mind closer to the deep wisdom and emotional intelligence of our primal selves. It’s going to be an interesting journey, as we will see!

Sun exactly conjunct Pallas Athena in Libra
There is something quite exquisite about this lineup. As an air sign, Libra represents many of the best attributes of human consciousness and thought, a rather cerebral and idealistic energy modified by a strong sense of justice and fair play, a desire to create not just harmony and balance but actual beauty in the world, and one that emphasises the intimacy and the companionship of one on one relationships.
Pallas Athena is a curious and highly intelligent mix of wise warrior woman, diplomat, strategist, a creator of culture and the arts. She also has healing aspects, particularly around the use of thought and language to direct intellectual and sacred power (having natural resonances with Saraswati in India). Uniquely, she often stands on the divide between masculine and feminine and acts as a mediator between the two. When she is operating well within us, we can draw from the intelligence and power of the deep feminine and express that energy through her spearhead symbolism into a world dominated by the masculine.
It’s easy enough to see then that Pallas shares many of the qualities of Libra, but adds greater warrior energy and an ability to get super focused mentally, creatively and spiritually.

Mercury in Virgo, into Libra on the fifth.
Mercury in grand trine with Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus, opposite Neptune in Pisces.
In what is essentially a Kite arrangement (with Neptune at its peak, directly overhead at Uluru at midnight on the first in Australia!), here the planet of the mind has flowing access to the electrifying, higher consciousness energies of Uranus, and with the primal, evolutionary powers and intelligence of Pluto.
The Uranus connection reflects access to higher levels of awareness, to hyper creative and innovative thought, to great internal mental and intellectual freedom. The Pluto trine brings access to the primal layers of self, to the evolutionary and transformative drives within each of us. We can get more consciously in sync with the powers that want to deepen our connection to our authentic selves by flushing out old traumas and psychic emotional baggage, with the long-term goal of empowering us to become agents of real change in the world.
However, the Mercury Neptune opposition can be difficult, as Neptune can tend to overwhelm our conscious intellects with excess psychic openness and to this part of self that seeks to dismantle the inhibiting structures in our thinking and in the rational mind. Neptune can also seek to awaken us spiritually by reworking the balances between right and left hemispheres while initiating us into greater psychic awareness.

Venus conjunct Juno and Hekate in Leo, sextiling a Mars/Lilith/South Node conjunction, squaring Uranus in Taurus.
You will remember this triple conjunction from last month, a meeting of the Goddess of Love, the Goddess of Marriage and the Witch Queen, an ongoing period of potential relationship maturation, healing and magic. What is different now though is that there is some extraordinary empowerment from one quarter and, significant disturbances from a radical change agent.
The Mars/Lilith/South Node conjunction in Libra is a super powerful and potential stormy meeting of masculine and feminine warriors, combined with some very mixed karmas and influences, positive and negative, from our past life records. How this plays out for each of us is dependent on the quality of what ancient material shows up at this time around the interplay between warrior energy and quality relationship. It also depends on how much work we’ve done with our masculine and feminine balances, with any toxic or destructive anger and rage in our systems. If we are lucky, Lilith and Mars have reached some kind of peace agreement after millennia of conflict and mutual antagonism. It is a big ask for the average human though!

Total Annular Eclipse October 15th 1:59 am AWST 4:59 am AEDT
For the sake of our new readers (a big welcome to our membership!), while eclipses have had a reputation for coinciding with destructive experiences and for periods of dark intensity, in truth each eclipse represents a dramatic injection of additional energy into whatever is going on astrologically. And so, each has its own particular quality and each eclipse is also a great opportunity for breakthrough experiences in our healing and evolutionary journeys, particularly if you are able to work with its line ups, however light or dark they may be.
With the whole multi-conjunction on the South Node, while squaring Pluto, talks about this being another major karmic event that will both dredge up past life distortions particularly to the sacred feminine, while exposing the hidden gifts from many lifetimes of living in sync with the sacred feminine in all her forms.
In the sign of Libra, whatever happens here, both light and dark, can clear accumulated residues that have sabotaged our relationships in this life while dismantling major internal obstacles to reclaiming the sacred feminine, our sacred sexuality and our capacity for ever deepening vulnerability and authenticity in our love lives.
(You can see why we consciously planned our Indian goddess tour around this potent time! We still have places left and our $500 discount still stands if you are ready to take a leap!)

Saturn retrograding in Pisces opposing Black Moon on the cusp of Leo and Virgo
On a superficial level this can be seen as an unfortunate polarisation between the Patriarch and the Great Mother in her dark forms and yet, under the surface both will use their deeper power and wisdom to challenge the other.
The Black Moon will seek to dismantle the rigid, critical and negating patriarchal structures that we have absorbed from our family systems and our cultures, particularly those that deny the wisdom, power and intelligence of the deep masculine and feminine. She will also initiate purificatory processes to flush out toxic masculine residues.
The mysterious, wise and deeply knowing aspect of Saturn, that wise old man who has travelled with us for lifetimes, will return the favour by bringing into conscious awareness the distortions to the dark sacred feminine, so that we can know its games, the ways that it sabotages us and, so that we can take responsibility for using discipline and courage to assist the goddess’s urge to heal the ancient pain, rage and toxicity of the damaged feminine.
This is an intense alchemy, one that won’t feel great at times, but one that in the long run supports us to see these two not as opposites but as complements and equals.

Jupiter retrograding in Taurus, squaring Hygeia in Aquarius and trining a wide conjunction of Shiva and Kali!
While Jupiter is relatively quiet in this month’s chart, the movements are still very slow which lengthens the impact of his transits and his aspects a very scrumptious spiritually and sexually.
In squaring Hygeia, he heightens the healing power of this kundalini goddess, whose Indian counterpart is the delicious Lalita Devi, the goddess of sacred sexuality. We can expect some quite magical healing experiences both between chakras within ourselves and in our relating to others.
As for trining the Shiva asteroid, both rule processes of that expand our consciousness in both mundane and cosmic ways. This can come as natural organic psychic and spiritual openings two great knowledge, or being drawn towards books, teachings and teachers who offer the same. Expanding Shiva energy takes is even further, potentially into quite transcendent states of consciousness where we can both perceive and experience the total unity of ourselves in the cosmos.
See the website for the unique and powerful Kali and Shiva meditations there.
Jupiter trining Kali can bring out the ecstatic dancer and lover in the goddess and as an elder sister to Lalita Devi, can bring great freedom and joy to our self-expression on every level. But this is especially auspicious, given some of the more difficult tasks demanded by other goddesses this month, here is a lineup that engenders greater faith and trust in the depth, the wildness and the spiritual power of the sacred feminine.
Enjoy!
With love and blessings,
Daniel
