Starting only 12 hours after the exact Full Moon, this month highlights the polarity and the complementarity between Pisces and Virgo. It offers us opportunities to balance out the rational and mystical, sequential versus imaginal and visionary thought, left and right hemispheres. As I mentioned above, Jupiter positively reinforces both ends of the Sun Moon opposition in ways that support greater integration between these opposites into potentially, experiences of internal unity.
This polarity is also reflected in Neptune in Pisces opposing the retrograding Mercury conjunct Pallas Athena, the former challenging the love of earthy and mental structure from Virgo while enhancing the exceptional intelligence of the sign with a greater availability to intuitive and nonrational brilliance. As per usual with Neptune though, the deconstruction processes that he represents can temporarily make things pretty messy in our heads, on the way towards this greater unity.

Virgo Sun opposite Saturn, followed by a trine to Jupiter in Virgo
That Virgoan orderly drive towards mastering the practical realities of this life has been tested by the wily Saturn in Pisces in this last week, another opposition that trips up the best laid plans and tests us around our flexibility to respond to unexpected circumstances. While this opposition is just moving out of range, the Sun is moving into a rich and bountiful trine to Jupiter in Taurus that will peak on the ninth. This accentuation of the earthy desire of both signs to serve, to create and to support and nourish. In the transition from the Saturn opposition, the Jupiter trine describes the cosmic traffic light turning green (A colour much loved by both!)

Retrograding Mercury conjunct Pallas Athena in Virgo, also trining Jupiter and Uranus!
As I described last month, Pallas Athena can be seen to be at a higher expression of the human intellect represented by Mercury so the two together enhance both the practical and the subtle uses of the mind whether for physical manifestation and/or the ability to direct what is called Matrika Shakti, the ability to consciously direct creative, healing and spiritual power.
This latter capability is not just heightened by Jupiter but also by the fact that both Mercury and Pallas trine the electrifying Uranus in Taurus, the latter exactly at the start of the month. And while Jupiter and Uranus are not quiet conjunct yet, both reflect access to higher states of consciousness.

Venus stationary and conjunct Juno and Hekate in Leo, squaring Jupiter and in a Kite Configuration
(sextile Medusa in Gemini, sextile Lilith in Libra, opposite Hygeia/Eros in Aquarius)
Firstly, the joining of the goddess of marriage with the goddess of love obviously highlights relationships in this meeting of the mature, queenly Juno with the symbolically younger Venus. There are opportunities here then for Venus to step up in her maturity, while reminding her queenly counterpart of her own youthful origins with all its playfulness, eroticism and sassiness. In Leo, both have the potential for some dynamic expression.
So, what is Hekate doing here? This Witch Queen/Medicine Woman can often be very secretive while having some significant agendas in her dealings with these more terrestrial goddesses of love and marriage. It all depends on how well integrated, how loved and acknowledged this darker Queen is within each of us.
If she is carrying significant unresolved trauma and unreleased rage, then she tends to act as a major saboteur in our relationships and at the very least, can diminish our capacity for intimacy. On the other hand, if she is showing her wise, benevolent face, she can bring great healing, a deeper and energetic juiciness and great Shakti to our loving.

Mars in Libra conjunct Persephone, trining Pluto in Capricorn
This action man/inner warrior left Virgo on August 28, completing what is usually an effective period of sustained workaday action. And now that he is in an air sign, he has more scope and freedom of expression, can more easily channel his passion and drive through the intellect as well in the body and, have his rawer edges modified by the peace loving diplomacy of the relationship oriented Libra. He will stay in the sign until October 13th.
During this transition from Virgo into Libra he has been trining the subterranean powerhouse that is Pluto and so been able to draw from deeper primal psychological powers of this underworld lord in order to get things done. And even though this trine is easing out, Mars is catching up with Pluto’s consort and Queen of the Underworld Persephone, who represents the primal feminine aspects of the same energy and drives.
If indeed we have major projects that involve significant change, deconstruction and reconstruction, this represents tremendous support and being able to draw from deeper psychological resources within ourselves to achieve our goals.

Kali conjunct Black Moon Exact at 26 degrees of Leo
This cosmic collision is a uniting of the core Shaktis of life in general and, is a major karmic event. It includes the potential for cracking open ancient karmic locks, for releasing deep internal blockages and for significant spiritual and tantric awakenings. While in Leo both these goddesses are at their fierce, wildest ego-cutting best (as we experienced in last month’s incredibly successful experiential workshops!) And their uniting reflects some big surges of sacred and transformative power in the collective and within each of us.
And they will push us! The Black Moon’s movement alone in this last month explains the sheer psychological and emotional intensity we’ve all been experiencing on some level. The arrival of Kali, her sister and daughter, adds an even more radical edge to the purificatory and transformative powers of both. Kali has a similar level of explosiveness that traditional astrology associates with Uranus; radical, unpredictable and potentially liberating.
Listen to our recorded seminar on these great Shaktis or work with Kali using a powerful healing meditation.
