THIS MONTH’S ASTROLOGY

We are going to spend much of March on the interfaces between worldly and spiritual, structure and fluidity, religious and mystical. Usually at this time of year we get a whole month of learning about the element of water, about our emotions and about those nonrational parts of self that can be supremely intuitive, creative and profoundly open psychically and spiritually. The latter is heightened and exaggerated by the presence of Pisces ruler, the planet Neptune moving slowly through the sign. (He has been doing this since 2011 and has a year to go before going into Aries in 2025/26!)

What is very different about this year, alongside having the Sun, Mercury and Hygeia joining Neptune over the course of the month, we have Saturn bringing his very different quality of energy to the watery world of Pisces. He has been around in the sign since March of last year but as we will see, he is putting his powerful stamp on this month’s proceedings.

To quote Mystic Medusa, who I am a great fan of, when Saturn comes visiting his core message is “thou shall get thy shyte together! ” More about this below.

The other unique events of this month includes a relatively mild lunar eclipse on the 25th and, a conjunction between the healing goddess Hygeia and the planet Neptune, a line-up that will also be visited by the Sun and Mercury later in the month.

Sun conjunct Saturn and Mercury in Pisces sextiling Jupiter in Taurus

When Saturn comes visiting, he brings his rather intense and somewhat paradoxical focuses to whatever he touches. He will help us identify our weak spots, our insecurities, any inadequate or delusional thinking so that we can face them and consciously work with them. He will demand more discipline from us, better planning, stronger boundaries, healthy realism, all for the benefit of making us more effective. Where we are off track in our life direction, he will slap us around to wake us up, and where we are on track, he will still test us out, but to strengthen our resolve and then get right behind us.

As I mentioned in earlier newsletters, while in Pisces he is supporting us to create better structures in our world so that our creativity, spirituality and its visions have a better chance of manifesting. Along the way he will challenge our woolly thinking, self-delusions, oversensitivity, escapism and anaesthetisations.

And even though he’s not traditionally known for being concerned with our emotions, fundamentally he wants us to express what is authentic to the part of ourselves that he is attending to. Since our deepest emotions are at the core of Pisces, he supports developing a better relationship with them, by helping us understand them more deeply, to build inner structures so we are not so easily overwhelmed, and become better at setting boundaries both within ourselves and, in the face of other people’s psychic emotional energies.

This long-term process is having a peak right now but it is not all just hard work. Saturn and Jupiter are exactly sextile each other, which means that while Saturn is applying his tougher, no-bullshit focus, Jupiter is simultaneously pouring his more obviously benevolent energies, his grace, optimism and expansiveness into proceedings.

This makes it an especially good time for turning our ideas, visions and creativity into physical form as the two confer a great mixture of structured support and entrepreneurial spirit.

Venus and Mars Firing up!

Venus and Mars conjunct in Aquarius squaring Jupiter and Uranus, sextiling the North Node and Chiron in Aries

Here’s another creative powerhouse, mixed in with a good dose of the electric erotic energy generated anytime this archetypal couple are coming together, in a juicy and heady mix of fire, passion, love and beauty. The squares to Jupiter and Uranus bring even more expressive and electrifying energy to these lovers, in ways that will stretch boundaries and can get a little wild at times.

Watch out for the 9th to the 11th when Mars squares Uranus, for instance, which will be a highly volatile lineup that can trigger significant anger as well as urges to break free from restrictive situations or stagnant relationships. The same also applies to internal patterns that inhibit our ability to love more fully or to hold back on expressing our more passionate and fiery parts of self.

The sextiles to Chiron the Wounded Healer and the North Node speak of similar processes and directions. (While the latter peaked last month, they are still very close together and operating in unison) Chiron has been supporting us to heal the wounded masculine within ourselves while awakening the healing masculine who is ever present underneath our wounding. In Aries, he is also intent on reclaiming the same fiery, passionate expressiveness so much a part of the sign.

So, while Uranus is breaking up old patterns, Chiron can inject more healing power into the Venus Mars conjunction in ways that enhance the expressions of both the lover and the warrior within. Obviously the more healed our inner masculine, the happier and more liberated is the goddess of love and beauty.

A Big Healing Month!

Hygeia conjunct Neptune in Pisces, sextile Uranus in Taurus. squaring Medusa in Gemini, opposite the Black Moon in Virgo.

Hygeia is a feminine counterpart to Chiron, a kundalini goddess of miraculous healing and, like her Hindu counterpart Lalita Devi, a goddess of sacred sexuality and a consort of Shiva. While Chiron healing is often decisively masculine, around diving into and through our woundedness, Hygeia healing is often subtler, obviously more feminine and happens more easily when we can get out of our heads and into our bodies, into our instinctual and emotional intelligence and wisdom.

Spiritually she also represents movement within our chakra system that seeks to link the sacred feminine with the sacred masculine. She can manifest this through meditation, tantric practices and any other opportunity we have to drop deeper into ourselves, like with experiential astrology, primal therapy and breath work for instance. She also has connections with the use of psychotropics in the ancient world and it was she who was able to turn the toxic blood of Medusa into a remedy so powerful it could bring the dead back to life. So, even though she can be very subtle, she is a powerful agent for healing and purification.

And this is what makes this month so unique, as she joins the planet of mysticism, psychic and spiritual openings Neptune in his home territory of Pisces. While they start the month 6° apart, she joins him exactly on March 21st, a line-up that will colour the whole month and well into the next. This is an extraordinary time for spiritual and healing practices, because Neptune will open us to the goddesses subtle but powerful healing energy, allowing it a level of fluidity that will bypass our resistances and dissolve significant blockages in our chakra system.

(You can see why I am offering the Conception to Birth and the Path of Healing workshops in WA this month to take advantage of this incredibly heightened availability of healing power. Join us if you can!)

Eclipse Season Start This Month

Our first eclipse for the year is on March 25 at 3:15 PM AWST, 6:15 PM ADST, a full moon annular eclipse with the Sun at 5° of Aries and the Moon at 5° of Libra. This is one of those eclipses that you won’t be able to see as its only the shadow of the earth, and not the earth itself, which eclipses the Moon producing only a faint change in appearance.

Energetically, this first one is relatively mild, with few hard aspects. Both Sun and Moon positively activate Pluto, there is a Saturn Venus conjunction in Pisces but one that sextiles Jupiter as well. The toughest aspects will be Venus in a T-square, opposing the Black Moon in Virgo while squaring Persephone in Sagittarius, so we can expect another round of relationship challenges and opportunities to clear out some dark residues around relationship and the feminine that have their origins in generational, cultural and past life sources.

The following eclipse on April 9th in Australia is a far more powerful total eclipse perfectly conjuncting Chiron the Wounded Healer at 19° of Aries. More about this next month.

Have an interesting month and make use of the various healing opportunities.

With love and Blessings,

Daniel
