This Week’s Astrology (Mar 22-28)

As many of you will know, the Sun has just gone into Aries at the very beginning of the Zodiac, a place of new beginnings. It is the beginning also of claiming more of this fiery extroverted, gung ho, initiatory and it times foolhardy but irrepressible fire sign.

It’s a wobbly beginning though as the Sun conjuncts the nebulous Neptune, a planet that tends to diffuse our focus, hyper-sensitise our feelings, blur our boundaries and provide experiences that force the Ram to listen more to his/her subtler awareness. This is also long-term preparation to turn Aries into a spiritually connected and inspired warrior and activist.

And then on Wednesday the Sun collides with an exact conjunction of Persephone and Saturn which, on an outer level often coincides with meeting worldly frustrations and losses, while on the inside, we are all being asked to acknowledge and deal with unhealed inner wounds around loss, grief and generational trauma that is clogging up our ability to carve our unique, individualistic path in the world. So, it’s not an easy start for the Sun but nevertheless a significant one.

We start the week with the Moon in Taurus having tough alignments with the still present and transformative Pluto/Hekate conjunction that fired up last week. With though, are good aspects to Mercury North Node and Mars together in Pisces as well as a fabulous sextile to the grace-filled and expansive Jupiter. Still some tough assignments around deep change, of resistant emotional patterns but with good emotional energy for getting on with things at the same time.

Forward movement is also enhanced by Mercury now out of retrograde action, while potentially giving us more clues from the North Node about life missions and soul level directions. However, like the Moon, the purificatory Black Moon is still squaring both Mercury and the North Node, which can have us revisiting old destructive thought patterns in a process that seeks to flush out inner saboteurs in our system.

What is giving us the clearest forward blast this week is Mars joining his mythological sister Pallas Athena in Pisces while both of them are trining Jupiter. There is forward thrust in this three-way combination combining the expansive perspectives of Jupiter with the raw and instinctual drives of Mars and the more refined intellectual, penetrative drive of Pallas. This is a can-do recipe for getting things done, particularly in the houses that include Pisces and Cancer in our charts.

Once again Venus is joining some fierce feminist goddesses, this time in the form of the Lilith asteroid who tends to up the temperature in our relating, adding more juice in potency to our sexual relating but who also will want to nail any inequality, disrespect or power imbalances in our connections.

Later in the week Venus will collide with Chiron the Wounded Healer on Friday and Saturday in a meeting that can be anywhere on the spectrum between wounding and healing. It’s another line up that can bring old pain to the surface but with sensitive handling and if necessary good support can be great opportunities for significant healing. Expect some significant and timely triggers in what can appear to be familiar territory but are an invitation to go even deeper.

Take care with this quite challenging alchemy, choose your battles, be attentive to your choice of words and watch your boundaries.

What old grief or loss has been quietly shaping my choices? Is there a pattern I have been carrying that is ready to be seen, named, and released?

Practice
Stand barefoot if you can, inside or outside. Take three slow, full breaths. With each inhale, imagine drawing warmth up from the earth through the soles of your feet. With each exhale, release one word: tension, grief, or resistance. Repeat the word silently as you breathe out. Do this for five rounds. Notice what shifts in the body.

The Mystic Tide

Neptune is the planet of the invisible ocean beneath all things. It dissolves what is rigid, softens what is defended, and insists that we develop senses finer than logic alone. When Neptune touches the Sun at the start of Aries season, it is not sabotaging the new beginning. It is asking that this beginning be born from depth rather than impulse.

Psychologically, Neptune activates our longing. It stirs the places where we ache for connection, meaning, and transcendence. When that longing has no healthy channel, it can become confusion, escapism, or a diffuse anxiety without a name. When it does have a channel, it becomes art, prayer, compassion, and inspired action.

This week, let Neptune be your initiator. Before you charge, feel. Before you speak, listen inward. The warrior who learns this discipline does not become less powerful. They become unstoppable in a way that lasts.
