This Week’s Astrology (Mar 29 – April 4)

The Sun in Aries starts the week conjunct in the underworld goddess Persephone while forming good aspects to the witch Queen asteroid Hekate and the Black Moon in Sagittarius. The death and rebirth cycle is in full swing, raining on our naivete and unpreparedness and yet the good aspects encourage us to dive into these mysteries so that we may be able to understand and weather the necessary deep changes that are afoot.

In the second half of the week will start to feel more of the expensive Jupiter energy as the Sun gets closer to aspecting this jovial giant.

The Moon starts out in the rambuctuous Leo, like a big roaring lioness and immediately trines Kali, Lilith, Chiron and Venus all in Aries during the first 24 hours. There are some pretty wild energy in this ready to break out in fiery excess.

Mercury is still moving slowly in Pisces and has been caught up by the tight embrace of Medusa and Shiva, a multi-chakra affair that engages the deep primal feminine and the wild exulting masculine. This is a great time for Shiva Shakti practices, meditations and movement, which will help with releasing up dwelling distortions activated by the squaring Black Moon. Expect a mixture of mental turbulence and profound psychospiritual insight.

Venus still in Aries has been visiting Chiron’s cave of healing during the last five days and is just now surfacing from his trials and deep teaching, just in time to be challenged by the two mature goddesses of relationship Juno and Parvati. This is a three-way total war between the desire for relationship freedom, conservative marriage templates and the evolutionary visions of the sacred marriage.

This rather intense alchemy is aided and abetted by sextile to the luscious and juicy goddess of erotic mysticism Hygeia, who like Parvati is a kundalini goddess of healing. Drawing from the wisdom and depth of authentic tantra can lubricate the necessary healing.

Mars and Pallas Athena are now exactly aligned but not aspecting much else. They are now quietly workshopping their combination of can-do masculinity and subtler piercing intelligence in Pisces, cooking up creative ideas in anticipation for the next surge of inspired action.

And finally, Saturn in Aries is sextling Pluto in Aquarius, a combination that is a call to arms around taking deeper responsibility and being more proactive in our own personal transformation processes. This requires deep listening for insight into how the fruits of this work can contribute to the collective good.

Where in my life am I standing at a threshold I have been pretending is not there? What would it mean to walk through it with full awareness rather than stumbling in unprepared?

Practice
Stand barefoot if you can. Take three slow, deep breaths into the belly. On each exhale, let sound come out, whatever wants to emerge, a sigh, a hum, a low tone. Place one hand on your lower belly and feel the vibration of your own voice move through you. Stay here for five minutes. Notice what shifts.

Persephone, Queen of the Underworld

Persephone is the goddess who was taken, who descended, and who learned to rule in the dark. She did not choose the underworld at first. She was carried into it. And yet she became its queen.

The Sun conjunct Persephone in Aries this week means the light itself is moving through the territory of descent. This is not about suffering for its own sake. It is about the particular knowledge that only comes from going below the surface, below the persona, below what we have been comfortable presenting to the world.

This week, notice where life is pulling you below. Your practical takeaway: do not resist the descent. Ask instead what power is waiting to be claimed in the place you have been avoiding.
