Nourishment, magic, and a sharp edge or two

Welcome Dear Ones,

Jupiter rules this week and he is generous. The skies open toward possibility, creativity, and even a little magic. After so much collective shadow, this is good medicine.

The cast of characters is rich. Ceres steadies the ground. Hekate sharpens the inner knowing. Lilith calls out what is no longer true. Chiron waits with his particular quality of presence as Mars walks toward him and Venus threads healing through the space between them.

At the deepest level this week asks about relationship. With yourself, with others, with the sacred dimensions of your erotic and spiritual life.

This Week’s Astrology (May 10th – 16th)

This is going to be a much better week, a Jupiter week and, a witchy one too! It should somewhat compensate for the ongoing collective darkness with some positive and even magical mindsets.

We start with the Sun in Taurus squaring Moon in Aquarius, in the third quarter phase, and yet both are holding up to different aspects of the maternal feminine.

The Sun is travelling with the great Earth Mother Ceres In the fertile sign of the Bull, a warm, earthy meeting that enhances stability, nourishment and abundance, all of which are supported and enhanced by good aspects to the benevolent Jupiter. (In India we would say that Lakshmi and Ganesh are about!)

The witchy aspect comes from the Moon lining up with Hekate, the Witch Queen and medicine woman, in the high-frequency, high intelligence sign of Aquarius. This alignment gets good aspects from Mars and Venus which could be described as a positive gathering of the warrior, lover and witch, a very creative, healing and magically erotic meeting!

The planet of the mind Mercury lines up with another witch-like creature, in the form of the the fierce, feminist, truth seeking Lilith who will add quite an edge, a potentially sharp one, to conversations and relationships, even if in Taurus. Any conflict will ease out later in the week though as Mercury sends a harmonious aspect to the expansive and optimistic Jupiter.

Still in Aries, after Mars lends his masculine drive to Hekate in the first half of the week, he will be charging off to eventually join the Wounded Healer Chiron, a meeting that could be very healing and/or wounding, depending on the status of these two male archetypes within each of us.

The healing dimension is enhanced by Mars’s consort, the loving goddess Venus currently in Gemini, tightening a positive sextile to her man and to Chiron, in another three-way healing arrangement.

To further and strengthen the current positivity around relationship development, Saturn in Aries forms a supportive sextile to the traditional goddess of marriage Juno, which speaks of some healthy reconstruction after a prolonged deconstruction of this goddess by the transformative Pluto.

And finally, here is another dimension of relationship support in the form of Shiva and Medusa, two powerful tantric deities who have been wrapping themselves around each other for months, Are now joining the mystical Neptune while being zapped by the powerful electricity of Uranus in Gemini. Both outer planets encourage spiritual openings and breakthroughs, taking risks and surrendering to deeper intimacy and flow. This is a good week for creating some space to explore this territory whether within or a similarly oriented playmate.

Where in my closest relationships is something being reconstructed right now? What do I need to honor in that process, even when it asks more of me than I expected?

Practice
Stand with feet hip-width apart and knees softened. Place one hand on your heart and one on the back of your neck. Breathe into the chest slowly for a count of four. On each exhale, let the jaw release a little more. After ten breaths, bring to mind one relationship that is currently in motion. Without analyzing it, notice where you feel it in the body.

Ceres, the Earth Mother

Ceres is the great nurturer of the zodiac. She governs the cycles of giving and receiving, of soil and seed, of loss and return. This week she walks beside the Sun in Taurus, one of the most fertile and embodied signs, forming a warm and steady presence in the background of a week with many moving parts.

Ceres teaches that nourishment is not a luxury. It is the ground from which all other work grows. Psychologically, she invites us to examine our relationship with receiving care, with abundance, with allowing ourselves to be genuinely fed. Many people who do deep inner work discover that receiving, not giving, is their true growing edge.

This week, do one thing that genuinely nourishes you. Not a task dressed as self-care. Something that actually fills you. Let Ceres hold you for a moment.
