A. With all due respect to Saturn who is an extraordinary archetype, being in Virgo is probably the most anally-retentive position of the planet, one that unfortunately exaggerates some of the sign’s more inhibitive tendencies. Just really letting go is a major challenge here.
The fear of losing control, of the irrational, the wild and instinctual and paradoxically, of the feminine are all strong here. The paradox being that the essence of Virgo is profoundly feminine and yet Saturn has a masculinising influence that includes erecting various defences to ensure the maintenance of control and safety.
The above is not an expression of the essence of Saturn in Virgo, but some of its very potent early conditioning, driven in turn by some very old karma.
If we consider Chiron and Hygeia, the two main healers in your chart, their message is the very opposite. Chiron in Sagittarius, who squares your Sun and Saturn, speaks of healing that comes from diving into the wild, wounded and primal masculine, healing that demands very expressive, physical and emotionally based work.
To really open up here would mean that you would have to meet and feel these deeper layers, which with Lilith in the mix, includes some profoundly enraged and traumatised energies, whether your own personal material or that which you carry from previous generations. Now Saturn is inconjunct all these Libran positions, including Lilith, which is like a re-enactment of the conflict between the inquisition and the dark sacred feminine. Keep the witches suppressed and under control!
On another level, Saturn is keeping some very old pain from coming to the surface, an expression of the need to protect, one that shields you from it but that also locks you up, including the freedom of the child within and the extraordinary power and beauty of your feminine.
So, in the light of the above, it’s understandable that you’ve had to face some powerful resistances in your own efforts to heal. All of us experience to a certain extend the yo-yo effect around our healing, that is the more we push out from our conditioning and patterning, the stronger it tries to haul us back into the safe and known.
Already though, the old Saturn influences have started to unravel. In the middle of last year, transiting Pluto was trining your Saturn, while Chiron did the first of a series of oppositions to him, which got repeated in February and will do so again in December. In 2014 Neptune, who specialises in dissolving the mortar around Saturnian brick walls, will follow up with a series of its own oppositions. The tower is beginning to come down!
My encouragement is to do some consistent work with the primal layers of your emotions, whether through the expressive therapies, goddess work, kundalini or 5 rhythms dance, basically anywhere where you can practice letting go more deeply and let fly when it comes naturally from within your body and emotions. You need to rage, howl, crawl and get dirty! And bubble with joy, passion and freedom!
Also anything that will help you become more conscious of the subliminal layer of these conditioned voices within, as underneath these lays the wise old man within you, who unlike the dogmatic priest, is a mediator between the deep masculine and feminine. And who knows how to contain, concentrate and direct the depth, beauty and the intelligence of your Virgo core.
