This Month’s Astrology
Usually in my analysis of the astrology, I simply use the chart drawn from midnight on the first of the month. However, this month I’m drawing from three charts, using the charts of the two eclipses on the 6th and 21st. So in many ways we are having three peaks astrologically speaking over the month, with the eclipses heightening and exaggerating the already existing processes.
Sun in Gemini conjunct retrograding Venus, squaring Mars in Pisces
With the Sun and Venus together in Gemini, it immediately describes the month focused on relationships, creativity and self-expression, with an especially mindful quality about it, reflected by their position in Gemini. The Twins normally add a great deal of playful, light-hearted, intellectually dexterous flavour to relationships, eroticism and the expression of creativity. My guestimation is this would be very welcome given the constraints and seriousness of this time.
However, the squares to Mars complicate proceedings, especially when this warrior deity is in Pisces, a sign of deep emotionality and oceanic sensitivity. While Venus wants to play, the masculine is having deeper struggles trying to maintain his fire energy in such a watery, emotional place.
These internal wrestles between fire and water can make for very messy energy around anger, frustration and desire, which then gets in the way of the freedom of the Sun and Venus providing a better time of things.
If you find yourself caught up in this internally, or in relationship with a significant other, the most important thing is to be honest about what’s happening on feeling level, including any anger that’s been unacknowledged and brooding about.
Mars conjunct to Neptune in Pisces (peaking Sunday at June 14th)
Given what we said about Mars in Pisces above, the joining of this warrior masculine with the planet that actually rules Pisces exaggerates both the challenges and the gifts of the whole Mars in Pisces transit.
It takes some very acute self-awareness to be able to successfully meld the forthright and assertive Mars with a planet that heightens our emotional, psychic and spiritual sensitivity. At its best, it can enable us to use a softer version of warrior energy in service of some exalted spiritual and creative visions or possibilities.
This potential for refined and yet empowering action is reinforced by sextiles to the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction and, to the fierce warrioress Medusa in Taurus. That’s if we can get the balance right.
The shadow side of this can be represented by the image of a long distance athletes running headlong into a swamp, or where our less conscious ego drives pushes into the wrong direction and we end up face down in the mud. It is expressions like this that show up how accurate our subtle awarenesses and intuitions are, and if we are able to listen to them in the first place. More bluntly, this can show up any self-delusion we might be operating under.
Another caution here, given that both Mars has hard aspects to Venus in the early parts of the month, including on the first eclipse, is to watch out for the shadow sides of sexual desire and seduction, whether it within oneself or attracted from another. Some individuals are very good at undermining another’s clarity and boundaries with hidden agendas, sexual and otherwise.
Also be careful physically, as Mars Neptune combinations can show up as physical manifestations, such as adrenal exhaustion, lowered immunity and a greater sensitivity to what you put in your body in the way of food, drink or substances. If the former shows up, it’s usually because you’ve been overriding subtler emotional and bodily needs for rest and self-care, and misusing the masculine to push ahead excessively.
Sun and Venus sextile and Chiron and Black Moon in Aries
Yes, the healing intensity of Chiron and the Dark Mother is still in play at 5° apart but is about to finally separate. Positive aspects from them to the Sun and Venus put us in a more fluid and mutually supportive relationship with the purificatory and healing possibilities of this time. In linking Gemini with Aries, it combines really well the elements of air and fire, thought and action, and can confer far greater healing power to our use of words and language. This in turn, contributes to processes around healing the masculine and healing in relationships, two themes heightened in the June 6th eclipse.
Virgo Moon conjunct Kali, with Parvati and Juno in Libra
This sets in place two major emotional themes that flow through the entire month and, which get strengthened by the second eclipse in particular. They are, the purification and reclamation of the deep sacred feminine and, a highlighting of relationship evolution towards the sacred marriage, towards high quality relationship. Those of you who are familiar with this territory will know that these two processes are naturally interwoven.
In conjuncting Kali, this Moon position describes an intense month emotionally and spiritually, bringing a great deal of fire from deep feminine sources to the surface and enhancing the desire to cut through BS, denial and unconsciousness in ourselves and in others. In Virgo, Kali is more earthy, grounded and contained in her expression, so she is not quite in her classical “off with their heads!” mode but will be even more potent in her transformative urges.
This works deeply and powerfully with a series of trines from the Moon and Kali to the ongoing conjunction of Pluto, Jupiter, Pallas Athena and Saturn, spread over the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius. All of this speaks of the grounding and concentration of transformative and empowering processes. This latter conjunction combines the life changing efforts of Pluto with the expansive grace of Jupiter, the earthy realism and discipline of Saturn and, the supreme one pointedness of Pallas Athena.
Both personally and collectively, this gives all of us the potential for making profound and long-lasting creative changes. The grace and the power is there and while the Moon seeks to engage us emotionally in it, Pallas and Saturn invite asked to step up intellectually and spiritually to direct this potential for ourselves and for the well-being of our communities and of the planet.
Parvati conjunct Juno in Libra.
Here is the traditional Greco-Roman goddess of marriage and committed relationship, joining forces with the Indian goddess of the sacred marriage and a wife of Shiva, the highest expression of the sacred masculine in that culture. While Juno is a powerful Queen and consort of Jupiter/Zeus, Parvati is a Yogini queen and, in many ways, a higher octave of Juno. The meeting is also a joining of more temporal power with heightened personal and spiritual evolution. Both are tantric goddesses, both demand high quality relationship based on equality and mutual respect. These qualities are further energised by the presence of Kali and initially the Moon in the mix.
This has important things to say about our relationship development at this time. Both Juno and Parvati have been opposed astrologically by the Chiron/Black Moon conjunction in the last months, which represents a period of intense healing and purification around our relationships and the impact of the earlier traumas and losses on our ability to create and sustain quality ongoing relationship. This is one of a number of reasons why this has been such a difficult period, and not just because of the intensification produced by being in quarantines and lockdowns.
These two coming together provides a vision in the collective that we can all aspire to and, gives this opportunities to make significant steps forward towards the sacred marriage within and without. The Solstice Eclipse activates these two directly to this vision, just as Kali joins them in Libra. This 3 way Shakti powerhouse empowers the vision, while mobilising internal distortions and traumas that get in the way of creating high quality relationship.
Lunar Full Moon eclipse, Sun in Gemini, Moon in Sagittarius June 6th 5:25 AM AEST.
As I said before, any eclipse heightens everything else is going on astrologically, which includes all that I have written above. In this one Venus is still close to the Gemini Sun and the two are opposite Sagittarius Moon who in turn conjuncts the Witch Queen/Medicine Woman Hekate.
These two positions form a very challenging T-square with the Mars/Neptune conjunction, making an already tricky situation more complex, given that the Moon position can bring out the very best, and worst, of the witch archetype within each of us. In Sagittarius, she can be in glorious full flight as a major spiritual power and, can also destructively act out ancestral cultural and past life trauma that many of us carry. One of the agendas of this eclipse is to assist in the purification of this aspect of the sacred feminine, which in process can get very ugly and messy.
Fortunately, the eclipse also creates a spiritually awesome grand trine, one of the best of astrological patterns, between the Moon/Hekate with the Black Moon in Aries and with Shiva in Leo. Imagine then, the Witch Queen joining a three-way dance with Durga and Shiva, streaming great Shakti through our bodies and chakras, creating a powerful flow of healing, transformative and tantric energies.
Simultaneously, the eclipsing Gemini Sun powerfully energises the ongoing sextiles with both the Chiron/Black Moon conjunction and with the Shiva asteroid.
This then is an auspicious time for deep purificatory work, authentic tantric practices and wild liberating dance.
Solar New Moon Eclipse, Sun and Moon Conjunct at 0° Cancer June 21st, 4:40 PM AEST.
The eclipsing Sun and Moon conjuncts both the North Node and Hygeia, the kundalini goddess of healing, in what is a remarkable opportunity for getting more in touch with your ultimate soul purposes and life missions! It also activates great healing power in the next stage of your journey and for initiating new creations in whatever part of your chart the early stages of Cancer falls in.
While a New Moon eclipse is very forward-looking, it also creates a super powerful grand cross involving Lilith in Sagittarius conjunct the South Node, the Kali/Parvati/Juno conjunction in Libra and a Mars/Persephone conjunction at the end of Pisces! The fourth point of the grand cross is the Sun/Moon/Lilith/North Node conjunction.
The presence of the three dark goddesses Lilith, Kali and Persephone in aspect with the healing goddess Hygeia on the eclipse represents opportunities to both release distortions to the sacred aspects of the feminine and to awaken their own forms of liberating spiritual power. The more work we can do around these processes this month, the more successful these New Moon qualities can birth creative new beginnings, that incorporate greater expressions of the sacred feminine.
The same activation of the Kali/Parvati/Juno conjunction highlights three faces of the Tantric goddesses that support the creation of the sacred marriage with the divine masculine. This represents a huge push in our relationship evolution and in the creation and development of relationship based on true equality, mutual respect and spiritual commitment.
In this respect, fortunately the eclipse also activates the Shiva asteroid, the highest expressions of the sacred masculine.
As many of you will be aware, I like to create workshops specifically to work with the best of the yearly eclipses, hence the online version that I’m offering on this day to work specifically with these processes.
Whether you are able to join us for this or not, please create your own sadhanas, rituals, ceremonies, whatever works for you, to make use of what’s on offer. At the very least, keep your energy moving especially around the peaks of each eclipse.
This second one is also especially good for envisioning work around your future.
Go well, take care, stay safe,
With love and blessings,
Daniel
