A. The highlighted piece of your question is the subject of long debates and many books on the relationships between fate and free will. And it’s a particularly personal issue for those who suffer from depression because one of the underlying messages feeding the depression is that you can’t do anything about it, that there is no hope, only suffering.
My experience personally and professionally in that even the deepest of difficult karmas, like our Pluto, Saturn, Chiron, and Black Moon positions can be worked with, depending on how deep the person is able to go spiritually and therapeutically. And the stuff that is essentially unchangeable, we find a space within where we can get more in sync with the energies, learn more acceptance of the rightness of the experience and wait for the karma to unravel in its own time. Or when some extraordinary agent of grace flashes through our being and it all changes almost miraculously. (This may well be one and the same!)
I tend to see most depression as the product of the individual having a huge amount of buried energy imploding inside them, a mixture of unconscious power, psychically absorbed wounds from others, unexpressed anger and rage, and much disowned sacred feminine energy, all of which is overlayed with negative conditioning about your own worth. And all of this is absolutely true for you, judging by your chart!
I want to say first though is that you DO NOT have a bad chart, only a powerful one that most people would find difficult to handle at least initially.
Your Saturn is a major key, as you are in your Saturn return, a critical turning point in everyone’s life around 28 to 30 years of age. On the surface Saturn is a deliverer of difficult and challenging karma mediated through patriarchal forms of conditioning, under which lies the image of a wise, old, tough but essentially benevolent teacher. The journey with Saturn energy is about boring through the layers of negative beliefs you have soaked up from family and society to eventually connect with your own authentic truth, self-knowledge and wisdom, a long slow process for us all but one highly active at the Saturn Return.
So you in the middle of a great opportunity, lasting a couple of years to make some deep and significant changes within and without, during which you must be proactively in going deeper into your patterning.
Having Saturn in Scorpio is rather a brutal position and its negative messaging is that you have to deny your power and your sexuality, you have to keep your emotions under severe control and that you are not essentially valuable nor able to make a contribution to the world! You have to protect yourself at all costs, not be vulnerable by expressing your feelings and you have absolutely no power to change things. These messages are emotionally and psychologically crippling and for you, exaggerate similar tendencies with your multiple planets in Virgo, especially the intensity of the inner critic.
But, you can work with all of this, but light weight inner work and superficial forms of counselling, however useful, will never be enough because of the depth of this imprinting and because you need to be able to access the deepest of transformative energies close to the core of your soul and your individuality, that you have bought into this life to express in the world!
So, in short-hand, I recommend emotionally based expressive therapies like primal, breathwork, gestalt (especially to get to the rage you carry, probably the most critical process); re-coaching yourself in your right to feel your feelings on a day to day level; gentler work like quality bodywork and inner child therapy to reassure her of her worth and love-ability; deep meditative practices especially those that allow you to reclaim both light and dark face of the sacred feminine (who are all very strong in you like Ceres, Medusa, Lilith, Juno, Hekate, Black Moon and Hygeia. The work of Sally Kempton would be a great resource for you); tantric practices as your essential sexuality is beautiful, sacred and very powerful and, past-life regression work (your past-life material is indeed intense but also contains great sacred and transformative power that you have bought in to contemporise)
If you can get even some of this going, things will start to shift for you.
Its worthwhile knowing that Saturn in Scorpio in its healed version says that you are here to be able to contain and direct spiritual, emotional and sexual power in the world, to model how to pierce into the deepest layer of our conditioning to reclaim our sacred gifts and how to be an agent for real change, real transformation for others. This is as much a part of your karma as the challenging stuff!
