The general collective tension continues this month, the astrology of which is still wrapped around the Saturn Uranus Square, which goes exact on June 15th. And we can expect some additional weirding out, with a Mercury retrograde squaring Neptune, and a New Moon eclipse on the 10th!

Fortunately, within all this we have some good stabilising Saturn aspects and, a brilliant kite wrapping around the Nodes of The Moon.

All in all, just another jumble of chaos, contradictions, karma and connection!

Sun conjuncts and North node Exact in Gemini

In transiting charts, the North Node is a mysterious point that seems to open up visions of potential new developments, both in the collective affecting everybody and, in whatever house in our individual birthcharts’ has 10° of Gemini in it. Having the Sun here lights up this porthole into the future, to show those who are available to it visions of possible future out of the current mess.

Gemini has so much to do with the skilful use of the human intellect and yet while it has a reputation for being up neck up and relatively superficial, this month it has some positive aspects to some seriously potent forms of both masculine and feminine, in the signs of Aquarius, Aries and Leo.

These are signs that will enhance its intellectual giftedness and put fire in the belly for acting on the new ideas, possibilities and visions. Once again, like last month, I get the distinct feeling of some major technological and scientific research is being enacted behind the scenes, or at least of being seeded at this time.

Sun/North Node trine Saturn in Aquarius

However restrictive Saturn might feel too many Aquarians, some of the many positive things that he does for the sign is to bring it more fully into the body, assist it in grounding its ideas, while helping to sort through the myriad of creative possibilities with some healthy realism.

This trine can help stabilise all of us, while enhancing our ability to become more effective and disciplined in bringing ideas into manifestation. And as we will see below, this includes manifesting healing and teaching gifts from both masculine and feminine sources. All of the below have aspects to Saturn!

Sun/North Node sextile Hekate, Parvati and Chiron in Aries and Hygeia conjunct Medusa in Leo

Whether you’re into the goddess asteroids or not, note that this combination weaves three great archetypes of healing and sacred knowledge together, in the form of Hekate, Chiron and Hygeia, the ultimate medicine woman with the wounded healer and the kundalini goddess of miraculous healing.

Having Parvati, the great yogini and wife of Shiva, and Medusa to the mix greatly enhances the level of Shakti available for any quality healing, spiritual or therapeutic practice for the whole month (and don’t we really need it at this time!! This is also one of the drivers for offering my first experiential astrology workshops later in the month)

So, the North Node vision includes this integration of masculine and feminine forms of sacred healing knowledge. Simultaneously, Saturn is also a linchpin in this process through his aspects to all these players, (even if he has oppositions to Medusa and Hygeia, a rather stressful aspect that can flush out residues from historical conflict between the patriarch and the serpentine feminine!).

Moon conjunct Kali in Aquarius squaring Persephone and Black Moon in Taurus

Each of these three goddesses are associated with the cycles of death and rebirth and this very much reflects the dark side of our passage as a civilisation, with the situation in India continuing to worsen and at the time of writing, the Israeli and the Palestinian leaderships are going at each other with little respect for human life.

For those of us who are not being physically threatened by the appallingly literal expression of these on the global scale, they do represent a continuing intensification, psychologically and spiritually, of this time. This includes their trademark processes of deep psychospiritual purification, for focused work on our shadow areas, for redeeming distortions in our family systems and, for getting down into the raw truth of things, as it is only from doing so that we can make any real authentic transformation in our lives.

As demon and ego destroyers, they are fierce spiritual warriors and have a no bullshit, take no prisoners attitude to our less than noble tendencies and patterns. For myself, I am greatly heartened by the fact that their energies are behind the current activism, and investigative journalism, that is bringing us face-to-face with domestic violence, the rights of the disadvantaged, the increasing level of overt corruption and negligence in our governing bodies. How often have we been confronted with the fact that in all the work around earlier enquiries and royal commissions going back up to 30 years, how few are the recommendations have been enacted by various levels of governments. No wonder the collective levels of despair and depression, and collective levels of rage have been rising dramatically at this time.

For each of us personally then, once again into the fire of working our own traumas, denials and accumulated rage. Know that each of these goddesses are supportive of this deep and necessary work.

Mercury conjunct Venus in Gemini

Traditionally, this is a very positive transit. The goddess of love assists in our communications being more gracious, creative, diplomatic and personable. We get supported to be more loving and to be able to communicate that love, whether personally or through our writing, songs and poetry. While essentially she is a peacemaker with an accompanying tendency to avoid conflict, this however is not a normal time for either Venus or Mercury.

Both start the month trining the Moon Kali conjunction and Jupiter, now in early Pisces, the former affirming that neither is a pushover at this time, while Jupiter brings a great deal of fluidity, sensitivity and nuance to the way we express ourselves mentally, creatively and sexually. This is a combination of grace and power.

While this is a good start, the two almost immediately separate as Mercury retrogrades back into Gemini and Venus enters Cancer on the third. Both also start the month squaring Neptune, along with Pallas Athena, a very tricky transit particularly for Mercury and particularly when he is in Gemini.

Many of you are aware of the reputation of Mercury retrogrades for creating significant chaos in all layers of communication, verbal, written and electronic. At such times we need to be particularly mindful (pun half intended) around maintaining clarity, honesty and directness in all our communications, as even with the best of intentions, things go askew. Emails disappear, pin numbers that should work don’t, misunderstandings abound, messages get lost.

However, any retrograde planets or asteroid is an invitation to go externally quiet with that energy, while connecting with that more deeply within. So, while a retrograde Mercury can create external chaos, we can use such times to dive into ourselves through meditation and spiritual practices, which includes things like dominant and non-dominant hand dialoguing, morning pages from the Artist’s Way process and any form of organically expressed art.

The squares to Neptune are tricky because it involves the Pisces/Gemini relationship and, completely different levels of consciousness. While the Twins prefer the light and airy realms of the cerebral, Neptune is a planet of mysticism as well as great psychic fluidity, which has an intelligence of its own, that is essentially non rational, highly intuitive and oceanically emotional.

The squares will add to the chaotic and confusing aspects of the Mercury retrograde and you will need to be equally watchful around boundaries and projections from or towards others.

On a deeper level though, this can create a strange alchemy that attempts to link these two different layers of consciousness. All I can say about that is, good luck!

The Neptune factor does however invite asked to connect more deeply with the psychic creative and spiritual gifts of Pisces, particularly now that Jupiter is also in the sign for the next two months.

Mars in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn

This can be very difficult and conflict laden transit, particularly if you get caught in head-on power struggles with significant others. While Mars represents the exercise of our individual will and its desire to have control in our world, Pluto represents agencies that have far greater power and, who can be equally ruthless in the exercising of that power.

This can play out all sorts of levels, all the way to clashes with rebellious teenage children, with bosses and other authorities, or hitting up against big corporations or bad government.

On a societal level this can also represent situations where others are manipulating or gas lighting you in order to maintain their own power and control.

On an inner level, it can represent the games that our egos play in order to avoid real transformation.

Whatever the case though, this is the universe testing us in a way that encourages us to own our own potency, along the way testing whether our egos are buried in dogma or capable of appropriate flexibility. This also gives us opportunities to identify where we may hand our power over to others subconsciously.

The worst thing we can do in this situation is to lock ourselves into pointless power struggles by attempting to bulldoze our way through.

There is help though, currently, not to take that path. Both Mars and Pluto either sextile or trine Neptune in Pisces and, the Black Moon in Taurus. Each offers alternative pathways; Neptune allows us to use our intuition to go into potential conflict more subtly and with greater flexibility around alternative options.

The Black Moon on the other hand allows us to pierce through the veils, identify subconscious motivations and cut through to the truth of what is actually going on.

Inherent in this is a great deal of learning about how to use different forms of power effectively and with great nuance.

New Moon Annular Eclipse June 10 6:42 PM AWST, 8.42 PM AEST

This “Ring of Fire” eclipse, being relatively close to the start of the month, intensifies the energies around most of the aspects we’ve spoken about above.

The Sun and Moon come together at 20° of Gemini, perfectly in alignment with the still retrograding Mercury, which will send quite an additional blast through our brains and nervous systems.

This may get a bit messy though, as the whole thing squares Neptune in Pisces, so all that I have said about the Mercury Neptune Square gets additionally magnified.

Venus, now in Cancer, forms great liberating and supporting aspects to Uranus, Ceres and the Shiva, but simultaneously hits up against some old wounded and wounding energy through hard squares to Hekate and Chiron. Whether positive or difficult, each of these heighten the level of spiritual and healing power available to our relating.

Speaking of relationships, the eclipse also engages Juno, the goddess of marriage in Sagittarius, through an opposition aspect. This goddess has been hovering around the transiting South Node, which is why some of us have been revisiting past relationship experiences, whether this lifetime or others. She does however have good aspects to Hekate, Chiron and her Hindu counterparts Parvati. So, whatever arises here there is no lack of support or Shakti for significant healing, openings and relationship evolution.

Venus also joins her higher octave in the form of the goddess Psyche around the 16th, an exquisite meeting of love goddesses.

All eclipses, no matter how difficult or easy, are tremendous opportunities for great healing, illuminations and cracking open old karmas, while offering new visions!

Enjoy

With love and blessings,

Daniel
