Sun in Leo opposite Saturn and Kali conjunct in Aquarius, squaring the Moon conjunct Uranus in Taurus

The Sun and Moon square, reflecting their third quarter alignment, is entangled in the titanic struggle between the conservative Saturn and the radical change agent Uranus, the stress of which is further escalated by the presence of the wild Kali.

The Sun in Leo wants to powerfully express itself dynamically in the world and yet the opposition to Saturn puts major restrictions on their freedom of movement and expression.

The current outer restrictions are obvious to all of us; less obvious are the inner restrictions of negative thinking and beliefs, classical and patriarchal based forms of conditioning and our own limitations and fears.

With Saturn oppositions there is often the seduction of projecting our own resistances and inadequacies outside of ourselves and towards different forms of authority but when that’s done from an unconscious, narcissistic or adolescent place, without owning your own shadow, this will come out destructively and messily.

Real change cannot come from this and, it is almost impossible to work with people that cannot or will not own their own projections. Andrew Harvey, the architect of Sacred activism, declares that the greatest challenge to our survival is fundamentalism in all its forms!

This whole T-square is fraught with stress and tension, is highly combustible and emotionally unstable. If we are not finding positive releasing expressions for our fire energy, physically and emotionally, then the thwarted Leo energy can slip sideways towards the unpredictable Uranus and set up some kind of volcanic eruption. If you can consciously work the energy though, through dance, movement and dynamic meditations then it is possible to find both greater inner freedom within your own body and in the releasing, greater inner peace and stillness in the midst of all the current turmoil.

The Moon position supports this notion. While it describes the emotional energies of the month as highly unstable and unpredictable, it does encourage emotional release work around unlived fire energy, suppressed rage and frustration on one hand, and the liberation of previously stuck intellectual, sexual and spiritual power. This is one theme consistent with the three points of this T-square and so if actively worked with can bring out the best in each of each of the players.

Sun in Leo trine Chiron in Aries, Juno and the South node in Sagittarius

This in fact is a grand trine, which can take some of the pressure of the T-square and offer an alternative, healing pathway for the extrovert energies of Leo.

If we then consider that both Chiron and the Juno/South Node conjunction have sextiles to Saturn and Kali, we actually have a Kite formation that also wraps around the Sun Saturn opposition.

Trining Chiron in Aries gives us support in facing our fears, including fears absorbed in childhood from significant others and, directs the energies of Leo towards the task of piercing through those fear and pain barriers that get in the way of expressing our authentic self, inwardly and outwardly.

In doing so, it can give our fire energy more maturity, humility and focus along the journey towards becoming effective activists and spiritual warriors. In fact Chiron, Kali and Saturn all have agendas around cutting away old ego structures, bluffing defences and arrogance along the way.

The Juno conjunction with the South Node has been around for a few months now and I’ve written in earlier columns about it lining up unresolved relationship issues from our pasts, both in this life and, in the case of the South Node, other lifetimes as well. With Juno, classically the issues are around commitment, infidelity and betrayal, and anywhere else where we’ve had some major relationship trauma.

Sometimes it will bring individuals from that history back into one’s life, even if only in our dream life or through spontaneous memory, for some kind of resolution. A deeper thread within that is the desire for more deeply committed, quality relationship that also has within it, a great deal of built-in freedom that suits the energies of Sagittarius.

Whatever the case, or cases, being in a grand trine with Chiron and having supportive sextile to Saturn and Kali brings a great deal of Shakti and healing power to whatever arises here.

If you are sensing some past life influences around your relationship life, this will be a good time for some specific past life regression aimed at that territory.

Mars conjunct Hygeia in Virgo opposite to Jupiter in Aquarius

After six weeks of transiting Leo, along with his consort Venus, this male warrior has been through quite an obstacle course. While bonding with his beautiful partner in one of the most passionate and dynamic conjunctions, the two of them got caught directly in the Saturn Uranus tug-o-war that significantly inhibited their ability to shine in all their glory.

As we will see, Venus has moved ahead of him, but now he has just entered the quieter, earthier dimensions of Virgo where his drive and physical energies can be slowed down, earthed and given more creative outlets.

His joining with the goddess of healing Hygeia reflects an old story, about how in ancient times when the men returned traumatised from battle, they were to spend time with a priestess, otherwise known as a Sacred Prostitute, for healing before returning to their families.

It obviously helps that Hygeia can also be seen as a higher octave and, dare I say, more sexually powerful version of Venus. In India Hygeia is represented by Lalita, the goddess of sacred sexuality. So there’s a lot of healing energy here for the masculine that can also infuse our sex lives at this time but with a deep, earthy, contained quality about it.

The opposition from Mars to Jupiter, who has recently retrograded back into Aquarius, is also a positive and dynamic alignment but with a different quality of energy. In Aquarius, Jove (Jupiter/Zeus) is very cerebral, visionary and very upper chakra at a time when Mars is digging into the earth. This can create a fair amount of tension between earth and sky layers of being. However, Hygeia energy has the ability to bridge the two elements and indeed, to bridge upper and lower chakras.

This potential uniting has quite a tantric quality about it, something that is reinforced by a flowing trine from Mars and Hygeia to Parvati, the goddess of the sacred marriage and consort of Shiva. It is not often that Mars comes into direct and positive contact with two of the tantric goddesses, with opportunities to get more aligned with the sacred feminine.

Generally speaking then, Mars is the subject of much positive and supportive grace and, as we’ll see, he needs it!

Mars Squares Ceres, Black Moon and Persephone in Gemini

This latter triple conjunction is a tough one, with the great earth mother aligned with two goddesses associated with death and rebirth, intense purification and the kind of gut wrenching transformation that most people would happily avoid.

What I hear in this is the pain of the earth and the corresponding rage of the goddesses intent on protecting her, particularly towards the ego driven male dominated culture that has skewed creativity into environmental destruction and degradation, including the greed of the multinationals and the climate change deniers.

In the course of the month, these voices of the feminine will get stronger, as the three of them will line up with the North Node of the Moon in Gemini, giving us even more obvious reminders that the earth needs more of our attention.

Once again though, the support provided to Mars also flows into these goddesses from Hygeia and Jupiter, bringing both healing and more obvious grace to this level of trauma, while offering the masculine warrior opportunities to get in greater alignment with the primal goddesses of the earth.

Venus conjunct Medusa in Virgo, trining Uranus and squaring the Nodes of the Moon

The goddess of love joining the fierce Medusa is a scary prospect to the uninitiated but in truth this is an amazingly powerful and loving combination. Venus can bring her love and acceptance to the much rejected Medusa in ways that activate the incredibly loving core of the Gorgon. The latter in turn initiates Venus into deeper levels of sacred feminine Shakti in ways that empower her tantrically, while supporting her to develop greater healthy protection and clearer boundaries.

While in Virgo, Venus becomes more than just the goddess of love, she becomes the priestess of love, a priestess who is owned by no-one and doesn’t need anyone else to complete her. Medusa confers on her a fierce protectiveness whenever she or her loved ones are threatened.

This fierce yet contained individuality is reinforced by trines to Uranus in Taurus and by sextiles to Shiva in Scorpio, both of which demand that she is given a great deal of space and personal freedom. From this space she will choose prospective partners with great discernment and will demand the best of any consort.

It is indeed a lucky person who is loved by Venus/Medusa individual, as you will be put through many tests before you are allowed into an intimate space, and then you are loved so completely that your ego would happily melt!

Anything squaring the Nodes is exactly halfway between them and this symbolically represents an important turning point karmically in our relating, where the old has been seen as redundant while the new has not yet been fully revealed.

With Juno on the South Node reflecting old patterns of approaching committed relationships, Venus conjunct Medusa in Virgo represents a reconfiguration of boundaries, empowerment and individual autonomy necessary to step towards more authentic, tantrically awake and evolutionary relationship.

Go well with that!

With love and blessings,

Daniel
