If I was to summarise the essence of this month, it would be “Love’s Healing Fire!” or “The Healing of our Hearts in the crucible of Fire”. Remember this point as we trawl through the complexity of this month’s chart.
As we know, it’s Aries’ month and the competitive and often combative Ram quite enjoys a good stoush. Being fairly straight up and down, it refers an honest contest where everything is out in the open and nothing is left on the field. Not for him are contests ruled by manipulation, subversion and spin; he might be raw but there is also a great spiritual warrior for truth in him.
Aries is often so masculine and a warrior like that he can easily fall into the boy’s club but what differs this time it is a different roar and it comes from the feminine.
On another level, it comes from a deeply wounded heart, in both men and women, and here lies the opportunity for healing.
Sun conjunct Venus, Chiron and Ceres in Aries
You might remember from last month that Venus travelled with the Sun all through March and all through Pisces, and now they are still closely together in Aries, in itself quite a beautiful marriage of solar light and the heart of Venus. Their joining however with Chiron the wounded healer is the lancing of an ancient wound that damages all our relationships and highlights the different ways that this wounding distorts and weaponises sexuality and masculinity.
Chiron with Venus also empowers love’s own ability to heal, in the way that experiences of pure love will almost always bring up its opposite. It also helps that Venus is in Aries at this time, as she will refuse to be passive and, able to draw on from the fire of Aries.
So shit as always can fly at this time because one of Chiron’s goals is to flush out the wounding, the distortions, so that ever deepening healing can come from both masculine and feminine. And as I have intimated above, is not just about the external world or what others are doing or not doing; it is also about unravelling the wounding masculine inside ourselves, whatever our gender, that equally damages our hearts and our inner feminine.
Astrologically, there is some fantastic and unexpected support to this core conjunction in Aries. Despite ancient wars between the masculine and feminine in our family systems, our past life records, our cultural ancestry, there are great sextiles to Mars in Gemini and Saturn in Aquarius, to archetypes normally implicated in toxic masculinity and the patriarchy. What’s going on here?
What this suggests is that we can call upon healthy male energy inside ourselves to act with intelligence and flexibility, where we can call upon the Mars abilities to confront and drive through hurdles and, the reservoirs of Saturnian wisdom that knows how to create new structures that support the healing.
Sun conjunct Ceres
The presence of this great earth mother in the mix is a tremendous gift, especially when there is so much fight and heartbreak about. She knows about love and loss, she knows about the wisdom of grief and in the context of this current situation, she knows how to create safe spaces to support and nourish the vulnerable. She also represents all our female ancestors, their struggles and their endurance in the face of collective and personal trauma.
(You can also hear her in Stan Grant’s reminder to all of us about the plight of aboriginal and migrant women and families, who are still so silenced.)
Pluto in Capricorn squaring Persephone in Aries and opposing Medusa in Cancer
If you’ll excuse the mixed metaphors, this T-square is the much bigger volcano driving this wave of challenge to the patriarchy from the deep feminine. And as a core transformer, positive Pluto energy is precisely what is required to elicit deep structural change.
However, Pluto energy can also manifest in individuals, and organisations, as the need for control and power which becomes resistance to real change to the status quo, particularly in any institution of power.
Medusa and Persephone are no strangers to sexual trauma, victim blaming, ostracization and having other people’s darkness projected onto them. Like Kali, they are surfacing in a head-on confrontation with the negative use of power. As fierce spiritual and feminist warriors and as transformers in their own rights, they are not only a part of the demand for change but also acts as initiators into deeper psychological astuteness and authentic empowerment.
Chiron sextile Kali in Aquarius trining Hygeia in Leo
This is the major healing thread in this month’s chart, the wounded healer in the relationship with the kundalini goddess of healing, both of whom are fired up by the fierce warrior energy of Kali. In the same way that this dark goddess initiates radical spiritual awakenings, she also confers the ability to cut through powerful obstacles to authentically deep healing.
As another warrioress for truth, Kali is also joining Saturn, exactly at the end of the month.
The image that arises for me here is that her slashing wildly with her multiple weapons around the body of Saturn to cut away more of the destructive cords of the patriarch, in order to free this Wise Old Man to arise more fully in the reconstructive processes so necessary as we clear away the mess and the rubble.
Saturn will in fact be double teamed this month, as simultaneously……….
Uranus in Taurus squares Saturn in Aquarius
This may not be exact but being within 3° of doing so, makes this still a major player in the collective.
This kind of says it all; the forces for revolutionary change gets met by significant resistance intent on maintaining the status quo, in ways that create tremendous collective stress.
So, the old Saturn is being monstered by two wild and radical free agents intent on liberating and innovative change.
And, on a deeper level, the Wise Old Man says to each of these protagonists “OK, let’s do business and see what is possible!”
Mars in Gemini squaring Neptune in Pisces (peaking on the 10th)
This is likely to be a tricky time as the normally forthright and upfront Mars goes into a nebulous and a slippery energy zone, which can have his energy expressed in distorted ways. We have already had many examples of politicians and alleged leaders twisting and ducking to avoid responsibility and accountability. We have had all sorts of rationalisations for morally indefensible actions.
Unfortunately, we can expect more of this, especially in the second and third weeks of the month. There is also a caution here, to watch out for sleazy, seductive and trickster-like men at times like this, including the inner tricksters who bring subconscious desires to the surface in a way that confuses our conscious drives and sabotages our effectiveness.
As difficult it can be at these times, the clearer we can get around our motivations, the less messy things can get.
Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces
This line-up feels the odd one out amongst all the high energy and the fury of this time, and can be seen as a point of rest at least for the first four days of the month. (Then Mercury jumps into the fire by entering Aries on the 5th!)
While not being a time for great mental clarity, it is one that can allow us to draw from a greater intuitive clarity, reachable when we go within, particularly through meditative practices.
And with the Uranus/Saturn square amping up our nervous systems, such practices can cool our systems down a bit and draw us into quieter, more restful spaces.
We are going to need this.
Go well and take care,
Daniel
