Well, looking at November’s chart, what is very clear is that this is going to be a magical, unpredictable and “witchy” month, with a great deal of somewhat contradictory layering of energy, represented by multiple planets and asteroids in both Scorpio and Sagittarius on top of the now tightening Capricorn convergence.
Scorpio Sun conjunct Hekate, square Medusa in Aquarius and opposite Uranus in Taurus
This is a formidable combination, combining great powers in both magical and combustible ways. Archetypally it joins two great medicine women and sacred warriors with the unpredictable and wizard like Uranus, all of which have the capacity to wield great magic and sacred power.
As the Sun lights up Witch Queen and ultimate medicine woman, we get to bring greater consciousness to this wise, ancient and psycho spiritually multiskilled goddess, illuminating both her light and dark faces giving us greater access to her gifts, of healing, knowledge, prophecy and transmutation (to name but a few!)
In most of us however she can also appear in her wounded and wounding forms, as the undermining and manipulative power wielder of reflected by certain individuals in our family systems or past life history. Bringing awareness to her can allow for great healing, the releasing of much pain and, opportunities to reclaim rejected parts of her within us.
It’s the kind of trauma that is shared by her energetic sister or cousin Medusa which is why both have reputations for carrying ancient forms of pain and rage, accumulated over lifetimes and generations from the rejection of the wisdom, intelligence and power of the feminine.
The pressure cooker intensity of the T-square between them and Uranus has the potential to blast open obstacles to reclaiming these great beauties and liberating their sheer potency. They in turn will bring the detached and hyper-creative Uranus down to earth and into relationship with the feminine.
This kind of liberating action is supported by good aspects to Kali in Virgo to both Uranus and Medusa!
Venus conjunct Mercury and Pallas Athena in Scorpio
Venus and Mercury travelling close traditionally represents an opportune time for good quality communication around our relationships, Mercury enhancing clarity while Venus smooths out the rough edges with her trademark diplomacy. This cooperation, especially in Scorpio, can allow us to deal more effectively with more gnarly issues, with a sincere desire to understand what’s really going on underneath the surface of things.
However, Mercury is in retrograde motion, until the 20th, which adds a rather contradictory twist to these operations, given the retrograde’s tendency to mess with clear communication! It does enhance our inner focuses and explorations, so even if the external translation into language is tricky, we can come to some deeper truths about ourselves and our loving.
On a simpler level, this is also great to sharing what’s in your heart, to be more creative in the way that you express your love and for really letting someone else know what you feel and what you desire. The more heart-felt our words are the less likely the retrograde will be to get in the way.
The addition of Pallas Athena to this arrangement, who can act like a very focused female form of Mercury, adds wisdom, intuitive acuity and even greater clarity to communication and understanding. And like Scorpio, she is equally intent on getting to deeper truths about our relating and our hearts.
This will be particularly helpful as the three are also squaring Kali in Virgo, which can be a time of serious truth telling if needed.
On a creative level this three-way combination is quite awesome, as the inherent creativity and desire of Venus to express beauty is supported greatly by Mercury and made even more potent by the ability of Pallas to direct sacred power through the use of thought, word and intention.
Moon conjunct Jupiter, Ceres and Eros in Sagittarius
This combination is something of a delight, with high energy coupled with a generous benevolence. And unlike the deep, quiet intensity in Scorpio, this encourages us to express our fire, our desire for freedom and our right to express our feelings openly.
The connection from the Moon to Jupiter is exact, to the minutes of a degree, at midnight on the 1st, and supports the expression of whatever emotions might be going on for us, irrespective of their quality. One of my teachers told us that all emotions are Shaktis, they are expressions of the goddess within us and we do well to honour them. With this transit, that will include taking risks in expression, whether to release the old, or to express our joy, and anywhere in between.
The Moon with Ceres, otherwise known as Demeter, is also quite beautiful, as this goddess is another, earthier form of the maternal feminine who will assist us to hold space for others, to enhance our trust, like with Jupiter, in the benevolence of life. At the same time she pours out fertility, creativity and the juiciness of love. And she is also fiery and passionate in Sagittarius!
Moon, Ceres, Jupiter, Eros Squaring Black Moon
Underneath the sheer energetic largess of the Moon’s multiple conjunctions, lies a deeper, more sobering layer of psychic emotional energy, from the dark mother body known as the Black Moon, who is still in conjunction with Neptune in Pisces.
I’ve written at length about the Black Moon’s influence in these last months, if you’d like to check back in on those earlier blogs, but suffice to say that this continues the theme of deep purificatory forces operating within each of us, processes that correctly handled can also give us access to the deepest layers of the sacred Mother with all her supportive, loving empowerment.
The journey there is intense because she will not hold back on destroying the demons of our own darkness and shadows in order to liberate us.
It is this hard aspect to the Moon and her companions that will have us also feeling more toxic layers of movement underneath the Jupiter effect on the month.
Fortunately, the Black Moon/Neptune conjunction has great aspects to the Saturn/Persephone/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, which is a doubling up of transformative and sacred power intent on producing major internal and external changes in our world.
The latter conjunction is tightening up in preparation for its exact peak in early January, with the three of them currently within 5° of each other, with Persephone and Saturn within a degree. We can expect more of the deconstruction of old patriarchal structures and, the releasing of ancient forms of guilt, grief and trauma, in order to make is more available for empowering reconstruction and creativity as we go into the next decade.
Mars in Libra Square Saturn/Persephone/Pluto in Capricorn
We’ve already had a taste of what is to come with this line up, as some of you will remember that Mars was squaring Saturn exactly in the last week of October, registering as feelings of frustration and anger, meeting various obstacles to forward movement and, having a good check in on the current status of our ego drives and their effectiveness, or lack of!
Mars squaring Persephone and Pluto, these traditional rulers of the underworld coming together, ups the ante of this significantly. By comparison our ego drives are rather pathetic in the face of these great powers, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t be tempted to keep struggling to have our own ways. Sometimes our Mars acts like a naive and impetuous teenager who thinks he knows what’s really going on and will charge ahead accordingly, only to crash badly.
Traditional interpretations of hard aspects from Mars to Pluto are filled with cautions around getting into power struggles, becoming overly ruthless and self-righteous, and wherever possible, to avoid dangerous situations or potentially violent individuals!
On a deeper energetic level, this is about honing our drives, our desires and our creative potency, so that we can get more in sync with what really needs to happen in any situation and where we can get our personal will in alignment with our subtler perceptions, our intuition and our souls purposes.
Mars sextile Eros and Jupiter in Sagittarius
So, it is not all hard work and dramas for Mars, because at the same time there is this incredibly playful, dynamic, expressive and erotic line of energy here that kicks in more fully in the second week of the month after the hard squares from the above Capricorn convergence.
The Jupiter influence will have the effect of modifying some of the harsher expressions of the squares and, he has a way of protecting us while ensuring we get the necessary lessons from our significant challenges.
Note that the three of them are high-energy masculine bodies, the Warrior, the Lover and the King, if you like but if you are to believe the Greco-Roman mythology around them, for all their stupendous creative potential they can also be very naughty boys!
So, there is a warning inherent in this, that sure, go and have some fun and let off some steam, but watch out for overdoing it!
And this is not just about waking up with a really bad hangover or in the wrong bed. When there’s a lot of darker psychic emotional material in the collective, and therefore influencing everyone, what can start out to be innocent fun can turn far more serious and even dangerous very quickly.
Better to get to a form of conscious dance, like five rhythms or similar, and without liquid or chemical inducement!
Go well with all of that!
With love and blessings,
Daniel
