So welcome to a big eclipse year!

I invite you to firstly have a look at the current Nova article in order to get the broad brush strokes of this year’s astrology.

Partial Solar Eclipse at
15° of Capricorn

This one peaks at 9:41 AM in Western Australia and 12:41 PM on the East Coast, January 6th, activating two powerful and ancient gods of the earth and creating a massive tsunami of potentially creative power for the duration of the year.

Nova excerpt
A solar eclipse is a New Moon event, with all the symbolism that that entails, a new beginning that influences the next several months. Sun and Moon conjuncting Saturn and Pluto drives and inspires a potential for all of us to claim more of our own wisdom, authority and transformative power to be birthed anew in the world. However, because of the depth of both powers, it takes a lot of maturity, commitment to integrity and psycho-spiritual purification to be able to harness these energies well.

For aware individuals intent on deep spiritual and personal evolution and, coupled with the ongoing conjunction of the great healers Chiron and Hygeia, this will be an exceptional year where the fruits of our inner and outer labours can be increasingly abundant.
However, on another level Saturn and Pluto meeting this way represents a collision between the powers of deep change and, that of old authority, most embodied in the patriarch externally and by internal resistance and rigidity created by absorbed negative societal conditioning. Basically Pluto (or Shiva and Kali if you like!?) will be going after the repressive layers of unconscious Saturn.

Reversing roles, the wise old ones embedded in the authentic
Saturn will challenge those places where transformative power has been
ruthlessly controlled, suppressed and misdirected by societal as well as
individual fear. This includes religious conditioning that seeks to deny a
direct connection with the God and Goddess within our own selves and within our
own bodies.

On an external level, this can get really ugly as the tectonic plates of our
collective “reality” move and lurch into an unknown future. Not that these
processes are new. If you think back to how much change has occurred since 2011
for most of us, this next depth-charge “just” ups the ante on all the societal,
political and environmental challenges that we face as a civilisation. We can
expect big dramas in the outer world, coinciding with equally powerful social
movements for real change, which of course will be met by great resistance from
those that seek to maintain the status quo.

The Saturn and Pluto conjunction heralded by the eclipse will have other
secondary peaks in April/May before coming together exactly in January 2020.

Aspects to the Sun/Moon/Saturn/Pluto Conjunction

Have a look at the current Nova article for more about the aspects to the eclipsing conjunction, particularly the positive ones. These include multiple sextiles to Neptune in Pisces and trines to the Juno/Parvati conjunction in Taurus.

More challenging is an intense T-square with a Kali in Aries and the Pallas/Lilith conjunction in Libra. In many ways this is a major clash between the predominantly masculine conjunction in Capricorn and three of the great feminine, and feminist, warriors.

It’s easy enough for them to project into this that the feminist uprising embodied in the metoo# phenomenon, the liberal reactions to the Trump administration, and the challenges to the boy’s club in Australian politics, will intensify. The danger here is not to fall into old black-and-white, masculine versus feminine battle lines, as the pressure cooker like build-up of this T-square will become potentially explosive.

On a deeper level though, the eclipse conjunction offers the possibility of purifying distortions to these sacred feminine warriors, to transform ancient toxins into embodied power and passion, which can make any form of activism more clear, surgical and effective.

Similarly, combining transformative power with the life changing Shakti of the deep sacred feminine empowers our spiritual gifts, reveals more of the purity of our sacred sexuality, allowing a deeper form of passion and Eros to infuse our inner beings as well as to be expressed in the outer world.

As intense as this T-square is, the eclipse chart also has brilliant aspects from the benevolent Jupiter in Sagittarius, including conjunctions to Persephone and Medusa, good aspects to the Black Moon in Aquarius and, to Kali in Aries! This broader Jupiter influence will balance out some of the extremes of the T-square, while offering us more gracious and fluid connections to these mirrors of the dark feminine.

Jupiter in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces

Jupiter and Neptune contacts are usually very good, as both energies serve to lift us above the mundane, continually reminding us of the freedom of an expanded mind and of our essential spirituality embedded in our human form. Together they are one the most positive combinations for spiritual development including opening us up psychically and creatively to the visionary, intuitive parts of self.

However, along with Jupiter’s reputation for going rather excessively in his squares to other planets and asteroids, the challenge is how to stay grounded, realistic and humble when he squares Neptune. Combining the two can also elevate us into the delusional realms of ungrounded vision or go in another direction, by manifesting as spiritual ego or arrogance.

There is also a cross current produced here, as Jupiter in Sagittarius is more about the search for meaning, for expanding the mind and enhancing one’s worldview, while Neptune is more about the mystical drive towards unity consciousness that exists beneath the workings of the mind. Their goals are similar, but their pathways are different. There will be a bit of a tug-o-war here.

Nevertheless, where you can combine movement and meditation and therefore honouring the energies of each, the potential for ecstatic experiences is very high, with an almost Dionysian quality to it. This is worth pursuing and incorporating into any ritual or ceremony you might want to create around the eclipse.

Jupiter is also directly opposite the Eros asteroid in Gemini and the latter has no issue with joining in enthusiastically to such a dance or ritual.

Total Lunar Eclipse January 21 St

This second eclipse is not quite as intense but is more dynamic and potentially radical. Peaking at 1:12 PM in WA and 4:12 PM on the East Coast of Australia, the eclipsing Sun is on the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius, with the eclipsing Moon on the cusp of Cancer and Leo, with each of them just inside the second sign.

The Aquarian Sun conjuncts The South Node of the Moon, Mercury and in turn Pluto in Capricorn, while the Leo Moon stands alone with its own North Node, the latter in late Cancer. So, while the eclipsing Sun activates significant past life territory, ancient sources of knowledge as well is past power struggles, the eclipsing Moon illuminates futuristic soul visions embodied in the North node.

Whenever any eclipse occurs on one of the nodes, and especially the South Node, we know that some very big karmas are involved. This is one of the reasons why eclipses generally have had dark reputations in the past, because of the dredging up of such ancient territory. For the aware though, each time this happens it is an opportunity to unravel difficult influences from the long past, while opening ancient tap roots of sacred and transformative knowledge from the same. This is especially true with the planet Pluto in the mix; what we can work with here can be life changing!

It’s an especially good time for past life regression work for instance!

Having the Moon on the North Node gives us clues into both our future and, what our souls are asking of us, particularly in the areas in our lives represented by the house that 0° of Leo sits in each of our individual charts.

Other Influences in the Solar Eclipse

  • The eclipsing Sun and Moon plus the Nodes all square Uranus in late Aries, representing radical and unpredictable change, plus opportunities to shatter old karmic limitations while opening to exalted forms of knowledge both from the past and from the emotional intelligence of the Moon
  • Jupiter conjuncts Venus in Sagittarius, great for expansion of love, party time, having a great time in general but watch your boundaries especially with Neptune in Pisces squaring the two.
  • Jupiter and Venus trining Mars in Aries, Jupiter blessing this archetypal couple who are incredibly juicy when they come together with passion and heightened creativity.
  • Mars conjunct Kali squaring Saturn! This is a tough one, a joining of masculine warrior with the great spiritual warrioress for truth and radical spiritual openings, but one that hit significant frustrations from Saturn in Capricorn. Watch out for your anger levels and do some active release work before your frustrations hit critical mass.
  • Eclipsing Sun with Mercury sextiling the Chiron Hygeia conjunction in late Pisces/early Aries, with the eclipsing Moon trining the same. This is an awesome empowering of the already potent conjunction of Chiron the Wounded Healer and Hygeia the kundalini goddess of healing. No matter what stuff get stirred up by the eclipse it will come with tremendous healing opportunities, with a great deal of grace and power supporting this work.

Welcome to another big, transformative and healing year. May we
be fully supported to manifest our gifts for the benefit of all!

With love and blessings,
