Check out this month’s Nova article and you will see how much I rave about the New Moon conjunct Jupiter in Libra as a heaven sent gift for surviving the recent eclipse season. Having written the piece three weeks ago and rereading it now, its clear that I have given everybody a good dose of Jupiter spin.

And like all spin, it highlights many of the positive attributes of the conjunction, while avoiding some of it is not so pleasant expressions (justified by the lack of space! He he….) so to balance out the scales (such as a Libran statement!) here is the other side of the story.

Jupiter in Libra
Our jolly and benevolent friend (well, mostly!) will travel from 4° to 11° of Libra during the month which means that any planets or asteroids you have in your birthchart between these degrees in any sign will get aspects from him. And of those ones in air and fire signs will get especially good positive blasts of energy. And even in earth and water, those touched by Jupiter energy will be expanded but in somewhat less exuberant ways.
So enjoy this abundance of energy this month, appreciate the time to assimilate and to prepare for the up-and-coming deep and rich transit through Scorpio in November.

New Moon squares Mars in Capricorn, a rather terse, conflictual contrast between the earthier expression of the warrior Mars and the urbane, intellectual tendencies of Libra. Normally this would generate frustration, expressions of anger and interpersonal conflict, despite the Libran tendency to avoid such things. A superficial interpretation of Jupiter would tell you that this is less likely to happen because of his overriding benevolence.
However, Jupiter as an expansive influence will exaggerate whatever touch it touches, which includes not so pleasant energy. In the case of Mars, a Jupiter square can actually encourage blow-ups, light a fire underneath suppressed or unconscious anger and encourage more socially conservative parts of ourselves to be more aggressive and assertive. And in doing so is still doing his job, to release energy that resists positive forward movement.

Either way though, the Sun/Moon/Jupiter squaring Mars arrangement is a dynamic one that encourages putting the New Moon initiatives into concrete action, by feeding the workmanlike energies of Mars in Capricorn with the creative possibilities conceived in the Libran conjunction.

Jupiter New Moon square Persephone in Cancer
Persephone is always a mysterious part of our psyche, a Queen of the underworld who has traversed numerous initiations, trauma, ego flagellation and rebirths. She describes the journey we all must go through to evolve from early states of unconsciousness and naiveté into greater maturity, psychosexual empowerment and psychological astuteness.

When she constellated and astrological arrangement, we often undergo such experiences as part of the death and rebirth cycle. I have also noticed that her appearance coincides with the activation of old energies, whether from one’s own life or from previous generation, to do with loss, grief and bereavement. Especially now that she is in Cancer, this will include the influence of ungrieved losses, whether in our own personal lives or those of our mother or grandmothers for instance.

In past generations where open honest grieving was not encouraged, where stillborn babies were taken unceremoniously from their shocked and traumatised mothers, where a miscarriage or termination was not fully acknowledged and grieved for, the resulting suppressions travelled down to the next generation and often further.
One of the underlying reasons why Anzac Day and the hundredth anniversary of the Gallipoli landing was so evocative, was that the sheer collective and unresolved grief continues to haunt us. You have only got to sit with any of the hundreds of small town Anzac Day memorials across the country to feel that lingering sorrow and devastation.

In the same applies to the older and destructively powerful generational trauma in our indigenous communities as well as the corresponding trauma in the land.
So the Jupiter New Moon will catalyse these different layers, supporting the release of this psychic emotional territory, cutting through collective and personal denial and unconsciousness as a massive step for reclaiming deeper emotional intelligence. The creative spanda (a great Sanskrit word for creative inspiration and spontaneous explosions of Shakti) blows open these residues so that we can truly move on and allow the same to support our personal transformation and empowerment.

Mercury in Virgo
As many of you will know and feel, Mercury has now gone forward motion after another annoying period in retrograde. He is still in Virgo at 20°, directly opposite Chiron in Pisces and in a hotspot in both recent eclipses, reflecting the ongoing assimilation of the learning, challenges and openings of those eclipses.
Mercury will enter Libra on 8 October and catch up with Jupiter on the 11th to give us all of the blast of positive mental energy for those few days. He is making up for his slow patch during the retrograde by streaking through Libra and going into Scorpio on the 25th.

Neptune in Pisces square Saturn in Sagittarius
Yes, we are in the last weeks of the Saturn Neptune square which is been so much a part of the incredibly murky, shape shifting and anxiety provoking energetic of the last six months, when the tidal storm surges of Neptune have eroded the edges of our ego structures and undermined the stability of our foundations. This is all been part of a mass cleansing as well as a strange alchemy involving the lord of structure and practical realism and, the god of mysticism, insanity and ecstasy, a very tricky place, as most of us have experienced in one form or another.
The goal of this alchemy is to put us in a better position to be able to harvest the creative brilliance, psychic emotional fluidity and spiritual inclusiveness of Neptune in a healthy and realistic relationship with our capacity to manifest in the world.

In many ways this is the whole challenge of being a spirit in physical form and, while a nebulous and a internally disarming process that few would consciously ask for, it clears space for the possibilities of living spiritual and soul enhanced lives successfully in the world. This clarity will slowly awaken.

Neptune conjunct South Node in Pisces
As I’ve written in past newsletters, this is an extraordinary line up for accessing our past life history, flushing out old karmic residues and opening up to knowledge, skills and experiences gathered over many lifetimes that we have bought in with us to manifest in this one. This is a perfect time for past life regression work, meditation and any other practices that drop us beneath the normal day-to-day operations of the mind.
So what’s the point of connecting with this stuff!? Because these kinds of openings put us in touch with some of the core reasons that we were born at this time, to these parents and, why we have certain natural attributes that were not learnt in this lifetime.

Neptune South node was also a major part of the recent eclipse when the last new moon was in Virgo and on the North Node of the Moon. In both releasing the past and harvesting its gifts we are freed to get closer to our ultimate soul visions for this life, encapsulated by the North Node.

And thanks to the fact that Neptune is going stationary at 9° of Pisces means that he will continue to conjunct the South Node through till Christmas, a conjunction that will be exact to minutes of the degree on Friday November 18th, a particularly auspicious time for psychic and spiritual openings (coinciding with the beginning of my weekend workshop in Berry NSW! And very happy about that, having only just now realised! )

So please do enjoy the restorative dimensions of this month, a welcome reprieve on many levels,
With love and blessings,
Daniel
