Firstly, go to the Nova magazine website for the current article describing the broad themes of this month’s astrology.

Sun in Taurus conjunct Hygeia and Uranus

Given how exceptional the Hygeia Uranus conjunction is, I am pleased that they are both still conjuncting the Sun! In doing so their combined energies are embedded in the entire month, contributing both to its chaotic instability and yet the huge potential for liberating healing experiences.
These three also sextile the traditional goddess of marriage Juno, now in Cancer, adding their dynamic to positive change and healing around marriage conditioning (from parental and ancestral origins) and, creating healthy movement in our contemporary primary relationships. This is another obvious form of gracious support especially given our next paragraph.

Juno in Cancer squaring Chiron and Shiva in Aries

This is where some tougher healing challenges enter our relationships (along with Chiron and Shiva conjuncting Venus!) On an unreconstructed level, Chiron and Shiva together activate issues to do with wounded masculinity and emotionally absent men, both past and present, whose influences inhibit the creation of deep emotional bonds with a partner. The more ancient material behind this will often show up in some contemporary challenge from within or without.
Chiron will help co-create present experiences to lance open much earlier wounds. While this can be painful it is also part of a hidden grace, to give us access to the earlier material for healing.
On another level, Chiron and Shiva in the independent sign of Aries can provide a counterpoint to any emotionally entangled or codependent places in our primary relating, particularly where some emotional protectiveness overly compromises an individual’s need for space and freedom.
Another area of focus here is where too much caretaking, rescuing or over protecting of oneself or one’s partner inhibits people from honestly dealing with their wounded bits and thereby obstructing the individual’s healing as well is healing the relationship.
Whatever the case, anything that gets in the way of authentic relationship, and our evolution towards the inner sacred marriage between masculine and feminine, is fair game for Chiron and  Shiva. We may not like the methods but the long-term results are more than worth it.
Those of you born in the early 70s, who have Chiron in early Aries will be feeling this in particular.

Medusa in Aquarius squaring the Uranus/Hygeia conjunction

Given that the innately loving Medusa is also a carrier for a great deal of unresolved pain, trauma and rage, this square can be a highly volatile and potentially explosive line-up, especially if this territory hasn’t been worked on. Uranus can sometimes act like a Molotov cocktail throwing revolutionary, with the ultimate aim of blowing things up so that severely stuck energy can be released, eventually making way for healing and reclaiming to take place.
Without stretching the mythology too far, Uranus can be seen as Perseus taking off the wounded head of the Gorgon, so that she can bleed and give birth to her children Pegasus and Chrysalis. After the drama of this it is Hygeia who quietly appears on the scene and safely gathers the poisonous blood of Medusa and turns it into a healing remedy so powerful it could bring the dead back to life.
In some versions of the myth, after the beheading, the body of Medusa returns to her initial beautiful form.
So, this myth will be playing out in some form in the collective and so we can expect various eruptions, outbursts of old toxins and rage, and incredible releases of contaminants that make way for tremendous movements of Shakti through our bodies and hearts.
If you don’t have ready access to safe places or therapeutic support to release this material safely, use the Osho meditations Kundalini and Chakra Breathe to move the energy in your body, as well as work with the Golden Kali meditation to assist the purification of deep toxins.
(These meditations can be found on the Osho website and are free downloads, while the Golden Kali can be found on my website HERE).

This is also one of those times where you can work in assisting Medusa to take off the distorted, enraged face to reveal her true essence, a profoundly beautiful and loving Shakti goddess who is a fierce sacred warrior for truth and equality.

Mercury in Aries squaring Saturn/South node in Capricorn, trining Jupiter in Sagittarius.

Yes, our minds are going to be the wrestling pit in which the father and son combination of Saturn and Jupiter compete for our attention.
Saturn squaring Mercury has the old lord of karma and time throw up all sorts of negative messages about ourselves, our worthiness, or lack of, and about the nature of the world. He will often present us with major obstacles to forward movement, something that the Aries part of us will rail against, a struggle that produces major frustration.
With the South Node involved, the above is exaggerated by the energetic residues of past life failures and other experiences of lack and limitation.
When he’s giving us a hard time like this, he can feel just downright mean and cruel, like the efforts of some belligerent, vengeful god. The trick is, however, is to not get seduced by this negativity because underneath these layers of trouble, lies a wily, yet wise and knowledgeable teacher who is essentially testing us out to see if we can effectively sort the difference between past conditioned beliefs and our own deeper inner authority and wisdom.
Fortunately, we also have the more benevolent support of Jupiter, the traditional deity of growth, expansion, higher knowledge, good fortune and grace, a king who overthrows his despot father.
Jupiter seeks to fill us with more expanded vision, a greater belief in the benevolence of life, and making us simply more positive in our outlook. He is optimistic, forward-looking and irrepressible. When Jupiter is strong and flowing, as he is in Sagittarius and trining Mercury, we not only attract good experiences form the outside world but we also give off a great deal of good energy too
So, it looks like we can get doses of both during the month, where some ventures will meet outer or inner brick walls, while others flow with ease and generosity.
(It is important though to not fall into black-and-white thinking about Saturn and Jupiter, especially along good versus bad lines of belief. Jupiter and Saturn are much closer than people realise, and life is incomplete or imbalanced at least, without each. They are both teachers, but their methods do differ. They are the balancing acts between consolidation and growth, discipline and risks taking, earth and fire, responsibility and freedom, self-effort and grace.)

Venus in Aries opposite Lilith and Pallas Athena in Libra

In the Nova article I wrote about the Independent quality of Venus energy this month, not just to do with being in Aries but also through her conjunctions to Shiva and the priestess Vesta, both of whom represent different qualities of psychic containment.
And now we see that she is directly opposite two of the great feminist archetypes. Pallas, like Vesta, is a so-called virginal goddess, meaning self-contained and independent, and who is traditionally seen as being closer to the masculine, supremely intelligent, wise and focused and not very relationship oriented.
Like Pallas, Lilith is another warrioress but unlike Pallas, her deepest desire is for quality relationship with the evolved masculine based on truth, equality and mutual respect. Because she carries the wounds of not being valued for her passion, intelligence and wisdom, she can also become antagonistic towards relationships.
Independently of this early trauma though, if quality relationship is not available, she is just as happy to go her own independent way.
The opposition of these two to Venus then can exaggerate the already existing independence of the goddess of love in Aries and present various challenges about balance, the balance between love and career, between connection and intellectual passion, between physical passion and celibacy, between spiritual and relationship goals.

Even though oppositions tend to polarise people, their nature is to elevate the individual’s consciousness so that instead of falling into either/or positions they can find their own authentic position of balance between the opposites.

In summary then, you can see now why this is going to be a rock ‘n’ roll month, with multiple challenges and equally awesome opportunities.

Go well with it all and may the workings of this month put you in greater alignment with your own authentic soul purposes for this life. This is the greatest gift of this time.

With love and blessings,

Daniel
