This Month’s Astrology

Sun in Taurus conjunct Uranus Mercury and Medusa!

This is a potentially wild, unpredictable, chaotic and, liberating month. The idiosyncratic Uranus will challenge any form of conservative or inhibiting structure whether internally or externally. He will bring even more absurdity and destabilising events into this already surreal time.

On his own he is a major challenge to most of us and, will heighten the temperature of any pressure cooker like experience or situation, hence his trademark explosiveness. Coupled with Medusa though can make this time potentially dangerous for us, as the combination of Uranian volatility and the kind of ancestral and cultural rage and trauma that the Medusa archetype often carries, will activate some dark and toxic forces to come to the surface.

Given the current geopolitical climate and some of its highly unstable protagonists, this could easily turn a Cold War like scenario into a hot conflict if our alleged leaders are not careful. Pray not!

On a more personal level, we will often get faced with the same residues and heightening of pressure. So, it will be critical for many of us to have inner confrontations with unhealed trauma, anger and rage, which is why it is so important to find appropriate and safe therapeutic and energetic outlets.

(Any of the Osho physical meditations such as dynamic, kundalini and chakra breath are appropriate practices that can also be done at home. Or if you are not in a situation of being able to get sweaty and noisy, you can use the Golden Kali meditation found on the website to work with the same psychic emotional toxicity on subtler levels. The goddess will accept whatever you offer her!)

On another level though, both Uranus and Medusa conspire to liberate us from life denying patterns and conservative Taurean security, so that we may claim more fully our individuality, its genius and its magic. This includes flushing out distortions to the sacred feminine to reveal that the deep love and Shakti inspired power of the so-called dark goddesses.

For instance, underneath her enraged mask, Medusa is an extraordinary and loving sacred warrioress, as well as a pure Tantric goddess! This part of her is awakening at this time.

Mercury conjunct Uranus Square Saturn in Aquarius.

Firstly, Mercury conjunct Uranus is an absolute live wire, one that pours great electricity into our brains and nervous systems, the results of which can be highly unpredictable, seesawing between chaotic thought patterns and crystalline points of clarity. Basically, our minds will be quite unstable! Simultaneously though, Uranus provides great flashes of insight, expanded perception, highly individualistic and creative thinking.

This is another reason for having expressive outlets, both physically and mentally, as this amount of electric power surging through our system has the capacity to fry our brains and nervous systems. So, dance, write, move and speak with great abandon, as wild as you can allow yourself to do so without injuring yourself or anyone else!

However, having both squaring Saturn (a square that will not go exact this month but will colour a big part of next year) produces a hard, contradictory and generally speaking, suppressing influence on the freedom loving Uranus and his pal Mercury. Saturn square Uranus creates an intense pressure cooker effect, where the innovative and enlivening effects of Uranus hits the patriarchal layers and the naturally restrictive aspects of Saturn.

This is akin to a wild rebellious adolescent getting reined in by a hardened authority figure, who may or may not be a voice of wisdom.  (Those of you who know the mythology between the two will be smiling at the reverse polarity, between Uranus as father and Saturn as son)

More seriously, this brings up images of armed protesters occupying government buildings in the US, demanding an end to covert 19 restrictions! As much as Uranus wants to break free, the very real challenges facing our health and economy demand that authentic Saturn, as a voice of realism and healthy use of authority, also has a seat at the table.

At the very least, this will extend this period of stress and, make it harder for those already suffering from frustration, unless they can find healthy ways of releasing the build-up of pressure.

Chiron and Black Moon in Aries Square Lilith, Opposite Juno!

Yes, these two are still travelling together, starting at 3° apart and getting to 5° of separation at the very end of the month. Consequently, the purging of old wounds and their psychic emotional debris will continue, as will the opportunities to do some deep healing in territory rarely accessible to us.

Their main targets this month are the fierce warrior goddess Lilith in Capricorn and, the traditional goddess of marriage Juno in Libra.

The square to Lilith will aim to release transgenerational and past life trauma around the suppression and persecution of women, while the opposition to Juno impacts our primary relationships, seeking out old relationship wounds and marriage conditioning absorbed from parents.

These two goddesses are squaring each other, a conflict that illuminates how the trauma and rage of the past sabotages the evolution of quality relationship and, how absorbed conservative relationship conditioning inhibits one’s individuality, passion and authenticity. This is another point of stress and unfortunately, like the Medusa/Uranus square Saturn, will reflect the rising frequency of domestic violence events during the lockdowns.

However, as challenging as this dynamic can get, the healing and purification initiated by Chiron and the Black Moon can not only release blockages to intimacy and relationship, but will serve to progressively liberate great Shakti and transformative power into all our relationships. It’s good to know that each of the players in this dynamic, especially the goddesses, are tantric deities. With each wave of purification, more of our organic pure sacred sexuality can arise to positively infuse our bodies and our relationships.

This theme is supported by the fact that both Chiron and Black Moon are trining the yogic god of tantra Shiva in the sign of Leo.  Watch out for the blessings of this amidst the arising distortions.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto at 24-26° Capricorn

This conjunction has been warming up since mid-March, as I wrote in the last two newsletters. This is a deep, earthy, expansive and brilliant combination of energies intent on enhancing our ability to both flow more fully with the transformative demands of this time and present us with expansive visions and unique insights into the creative possibilities of this time of radical deconstruction of the old.

The expansive visions of Jupiter combines well with the transformative muscle of Pluto.  It’s a combination that also gives us an alternative perspective when there is so much around us that can seduce us with despair and feelings of victimisation. They tell us to stay grounded, watch our boundaries, identifying very clearly what in ourselves needs to be purified, transformed or jettisoned, and to watch out for points of intense light in the midst of the collective darkness that we are facing.

Venus conjunct Hygeia in Gemini trining Mars in Aquarius.

Considering the relationship challenges of the above, having Venus conjunct this kundalini goddess of healing, is a tremendous gift to us, as the combination speaks of the possibility of spontaneous, even magical, experiences of healing around these two goddesses of love. I include Hygeia in this description as her Indian equivalent is Lalita, the goddess of sacred sexuality.

The healing capacities of Hygeia include a natural ability to be able to purify the deepest toxins and, the ability to transmute those toxins into great healing power. So, when there is much ancient shit arising, she is the one inside us who has the skills to deal with it.

This is another tantric union between two aspects of the feminine, which will have some healthy spin-offs for Venus’ relationship to her consort Mars. Mars gets very happy as his partner unveils more of her beauty and her healing erotic potency.

However, Venus also has some major challenges that can get in the way of the above potential, and not just because she turns retrograde on the 13th!

Venus squares Kali in Virgo and the Persephone/Neptune conjunction in Pisces!

Firstly, Venus squaring Neptune is a very tricky and often very slippery combination, as Neptune tends to open a start psychically to all sorts of projections, subconscious desires, self-delusion and lack of clarity in our relating. It can be very difficult then to sort out exactly what is going on inside us and with significant others.

When you throw in two goddesses of death rebirth and transformation into the mix, who are intent on applying that blowtorch to our relationships, it can get very messy. Subsequently it is not a good time for making any life changing decisions around our relationships, because getting the necessary degree of clarity can be very hard.

What we do know is that this is a time of relationship transformation, one which requires us to surrender into the unknown while trying to be as honest with ourselves and with others as we can be.

In another great paradox so commonly found in astrology, and in life, Venus and Neptune combinations can also provide the most ecstatic experiences of love, with a distinctively mystical quality to it. It all depends on the depth of which we are able to surrender and let go.

North Node of the Moon goes into Gemini.

The Moon’s Nodes are not actually physical points, but the intersections between the orbits of the Sun and Moon as seen from the earth. These nodes have an 18 year cycle and so take about 18 months to move through a sign of the Zodiac, which they do in continuous retrograde motion.

The South Node and the North Node have being in Capricorn and Cancer respectively since November 2018, during which they had major intersections with the Saturn Pluto conjunction and with a series of the so-called dark goddesses, all of which adding to the intensity of this last couple of years.

Symbolically and energetically, they describe different aspects of our soul’s journey, whether individually or collectively, to do with a particular sign that they are moving through. Generally speaking, the South Node represents past life influences, positive and negative karmas that are arising to be worked with, purified and integrated into this life. The North Node in turn describes the ultimate visions of where we as a civilisation and as a planet are potentially heading towards.

As opposite points, when the North Node enters Gemini, the South Node enters the opposite sign of Sagittarius. It would take many thousands of words to flesh out the fullness of what this means but some of the themes are

– the translation of ancient forms of knowledge gathered over many lifetimes into contemporary       language.

– the recovery of our connection to the wild, both in ourselves and with the natural environment.

– of healing splits between the mind and the body, so that our thinking and our words are more embodied.

– to heighten our love of knowledge, our longing to be inspired and to act on what we know to be true.

– to use the intellectual dexterity of Gemini to move away from dogma and rigid belief systems, while sharing the innate gifts and knowledge of those systems.

– to balance out our seriousness with play, creativity and healthier connections with the child-like parts of ourselves.

These are some of the themes for the next 18 months. I will flesh this out more fully as each of the Nodes interacts with other archetypes.

Go well, go safely, find your fire, so you can cool down.

With love and blessings,

Daniel
