THIS MONTH’S ASTROLOGYWe are going to have a rather Mars and Venus kind of month thanks to the emphasis on both Taurus and Aries, with their respective ruling planet’s, Venus and Mars going into their home signs at the very beginning of the month. Mars adds even more dynamism to Aries who continues to highlight the relationship between fiery individualism and healing power, while the lovely Venus, who is so happy to be in Taurus, brings out the best of the Bull by enhancing his deeply sensual, loving and creative qualities. From our experience then there is quite a juicy mix of love and desire, creative action, both delightful and hard earned healing, all of which will be made even more dynamic as the Sun and Venus cross the ongoing Uranus Jupiter conjunction. So, there is a lot to look forward to in the course of the month and, as we will see, some exceptional spiritual alignments. It is clearly not going to be your “average” Turean month! | Sun in Taurus sextile Saturn in Pisces |
Taurus is capable of being an incredibly consistent, self-sustaining hard-working energy which when it is able to support, provide for and nourish others brings out the very best in the sign. While he might be a little slow in getting going, once he’s built out enough steam in his bighearted body, he can be unstoppable! The sextile to Saturn in the equally gentle sign of Pisces enhances our ability to pace ourselves well while we get on with what we need to do. It allows us to shoulder our responsibilities more lightly and to stay focused, without overreaching or being unkind to ourselves or our bodies. Positives Saturn energy enables us to handle our energies better while balancing the deep potency of Taurus with other parts of self that are more dynamic and driven. In this month, this means the Aries part of self! | Moon conjunct Pluto, Trine with Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus, sextile Mars/Neptune in Pisces/Aries |
On the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius, the Moon conjuncting Pluto describes this as an emotionally powerful month, and potentially transformative one, and where feminine sources of potency, intelligence and wisdom speaks truth to power. Internally, it can also dredge up a great deal of psychic emotional baggage, which makes it an opportune time for healing and processes of purification. These demands get tremendous support from the Uranus/Jupiter conjunction which speaks of expansion and grace, liberating change, exalted thinking and positive expectations. At a time when there is a great deal of dark and distorted energy in the collective, this is a brilliant reminder that dramatic and liberating change can happen at any time. And with whatever garbage from the past is pushed up within, the releasing of this can happen more easily as the wheels of change are already spinning with even greater lubrication. The more we get proactive with our spiritual and healing processes, the greater the fruits of those actions. All of which is brilliantly supported by the exulting energies of Uranus and Jupiter. | Venus in Taurus Square Pluto, sextile Parvati in Pisces, trining Juno in Virgo |
Venus starts the month only 9° from the Taurus Sun, which means she’s not conjunct yet but will be chasing the Sun for all of the month during which time she will get close enough in its middle weeks for the two to hang out together in a union of great love and creative potential. However, this goddess of love starts with an exact square with Pluto which can have some distinctively unloving consequences. While in Taurus, she reminds us of the deep desire for security, safety and nourishment that allows us to open our hearts and bodies to love and pleasure. Hitting a square with Pluto is like having Darth Vader appear in our bedrooms on one hand, something that can manifest as power struggles in relationships, unexpressed or unhealed energies from the past arising, or experiencing the consequences of resisting deep change in our primary bonds. Paradoxically, whatever “negativity” might show itself here, it is a necessary step in progressively being able to make positive healthy changes if we are prepared to face up to the truth of things and actively work with them. Her energies will improve enormously as she catches up to the Sun and as she links with two goddess asteroids that represent greater relationship evolution. | Mars in Aries conjunct Neptune in Pisces |
Speaking of action, getting support from a Mars Neptune conjunction straddling Pisces and Aries is another factor that will work for some people and not others. At its highest it can allow a greater alignment between our personal will and desires, with much more expanded intuitive and psychic awareness, making our actions more wide-ranging and more capable of incorporating subtlety and nuance. Paradoxically, Neptune can sap the dynamism of Mars by creating a psychic drain that draws us down into unresolved issues or too much over-riding of unacknowledged feelings, especially around anger, sex or assertiveness. His going into Aries however, especially as he leaves the aura of Neptune and Pisces, is a tremendous relief and a joyous event as he enters the energetically freer zone of hometown Aries. Here he highlights the need to express our emotionality and our physicality through our bodies through exercise, dance and movement, or juicy work projects, whatever allows for a fuller expression of our essential fire energy. You can see here where his movement is a good counterbalance to some of the more passive energies of Venus and Taurus, but when worked with well, he allows for the physical manifestation of whatever creative and loving energies of the latter two. This month then we can have far greater experiences of the kind of masculine/feminine polarity that generates great passion in all its forms. | Mercury conjunct Chiron in Aries trine Persephone in Sagittarius and Hekate in Leo |
Mercury’s movement is relatively slow at the moment, with him only recently coming out of his last retrograde period. This in turn means he is spending more time than normal when he aspects any other body. As he is now rejoining Chiron the Wounded Healer (exact on the 7th) he gives us greater conscious access to both the wounded parts of ourselves as well as to the innate healing capacity that underlies our wounds. We can find ourselves revisiting earlier experiences of being wounded by others and where we have indeed wounded others, whether deliberately or unconsciously. Along with this comes an invitation to do some even deeper healing work around both. This is also a reminder to all of us of the healing and the wounding use of words, thoughts and beliefs, including the ways that we might indulge negative thoughts about ourselves. I’m reminded of a book written in the 1980s called “Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer!” | Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus |
Yes, these two are still actively engaged but will move out of a 5° orb between them towards the middle of the month. There will be some significant activations of both though as the Sun will cross each in the third week of the month followed by Venus doing the same in the fourth week. These will be high-energy times, both expansive and unpredictable with the ongoing intention of awakening more of our solar essence and, in our capacity to love with greater freedom. (This includes an extraordinary grand trine on the 18th/19th, on one corner a joining of Venus, Uranus, Sun and Jupiter in Taurus, all trining the transformative Pluto in Aquarius on another and, with the conjunction of Shiva and the Black Moon in Virgo in the third position. I was awakened literally to this event overnight, with the invitation to offer an online experiential workshop, something way too good an opportunity to miss. More about this next month. | Saturn in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus and Ceres in Capricorn, squaring Persephone in Sagittarius and Eros in Gemini, trining Kali in Scorpio |
From the middle of Pisces, Saturn is serving to ground more of the sky god energy of Uranus, acting like a lightning rod for the latter’s high voltage creativity and innovation. While in Pisces the Wise Old Man is in better contact with the feminine and is teaming up with the equally grounding Earth Mother energy of Ceres (who’s Greek name is Demeter). These two are also help Uranus connect more deeply with the feminine, creating a greater circuitry between the wisdom of both masculine and deep feminine with the electrifying change energy of Uranus. This creates a situation where we can assess any potential changes in our world informed by heightened consciousness while joining well with grounded and emotionally intelligent agencies. This will assist any significant changes you might want to make on the homefront, in our parenting and in support of our elders and other dependents. Uranus, with the support of Jupiter, encourages us to approach things with a greater openness of mind and the ability to integrate healthy innovations. | Hygeia in Aries conjunct North Node |
Here is another healing gift from the universe. This Goddess of Healing and Sacred Sexuality joins the futuristic, visionary North Node exactly on the 12th, something her former teacher Chiron had been doing earlier in the year. This will be another opening to our future and how of our healing will impact that future but also how our healing gifts and experience will wish to be offered to the collective good. She also offers another round of healing to the wounded parts of our fire energy reflected by Aries within each of us which includes wounds to our desire nature, to healthy assertion, to our masculine in general. She brings a feminine quality to these and, to our anger and sexual issues, especially as Mars will join her and the North Node on the 20/21st. As the Warrior god gets more healed, his consort Venus works that much better too! Go well with it all!
