When higher mind meets fierce heart

Welcome Dear Ones

This week the Aquarian sky is bright, intense and deeply paradoxical. The Sun with Shiva opens the higher mind, while Vesta and Medusa tug us back into body, emotion and earthy truth. Venus and Mercury soften the edges of communication, yet Mars with Pluto stirs a fierce urge to break old patterns and do something real with our lives. The healing currents of Hygeia, Chiron, Jupiter and Ceres offer medicine for both the nervous system and the heart.

If you feel stretched between spirit and being in your body, you are right on time. Our Decoding the Stars, Embody the Wisdom Masterclass is designed for exactly this kind of week, so you can feel the archetypes moving through you in practice. Join us to learn where they live in your body.

Sun in Aquarius conjunct Vesta, Medusa and Shiva.

As an air sign, Aquarius is known for its incredibly versatile and dexterous intellect, its capacity for thinking outside the box, and for its humorous sociability. This all comes with a tendency to be excessively mindful at the expense of emotions in ways that are not always grounded. Spiritually, it leans towards upper chakra detachment, and having the yogi god Shiva conjuncting the Sun exactly in Aquarius, is a combination that enhances our openness to the higher realms of the intellect and exalted forms of knowledge and consciousness.

Fortunately, and rather stressfully, the Sun is also grounded by the priestess of containment Vesta, and the fierce feminine warrior Medusa, both of whom will draw the Aquarian down into the realms of the earth, of the body and of the deeper emotions. And make his brilliance more potent and effective!

Venus conjunct Mercury in Aquarius.

Traditionally, joining the goddess of love and the mercurial mind planet is a good combination for human relationships, enhancing the quality of communication between people. Mercury adds the urge to communicate clearly, to understand the other person’s perspective, to seek a meeting of minds, while giving voice to one’s feelings. Venus responds with a harmonising diplomacy, taking the edges off points of potential conflict, while seeking to share more heartfelt feelings that enhances the connection.

Mars conjunct Pluto in Aquarius.

This is arguably the most dangerous of combinations AND one of the most transformative. Archetypally, here is the often raw and instinctual masculine warrior joined with an ancient god of death and rebirth, an energy which can go either way and sometimes, in both ways at the same time, depending on the consciousness of who is directing it.

On a more personal level, we have the opportunity of being able to use our conscious will to direct the power to make significant changes in our lives, inwardly and outwardly. Running well, we can draw from tremendous levels of stamina to achieve some remarkable results.

Hygeia in Gemini sextiling Chiron in Aries.

Given the intensity and the significance of all the challenges above, having an increasingly exact sextile between the healing goddess Hygeia and the Wounded Healer is good news. The two combine the penetrative actions of this form of the Divine Masculine into our woundedness and, the organic, grace and power of the Sacred Feminine reflected in the healing intelligence embedded in our own bodies.

Jupiter in Cancer squaring Ceres in Aries.

As a major enhancer of the nurturing, deeply maternal and protective aspects of Cancer, Jupiter reminds us of the necessity of taking care of ourselves on every level in these times of huge change and turmoil. Ceres in Aries offers another aspect of the maternal which nurtures while encouraging the loved one’s individualism and extrovert qualities. Both are positively energised by the benevolent Jupiter!

Reflection + Embodiment

Journal
How is my inner healer inviting me to receive more nourishment?

How can I mother myself in a way that still honours my independence and fire?

Practice

  1. Lie down or sit against a wall so your back is supported.
  2. Imagine Jupiter in Cancer as a warm, protective presence behind you, and Ceres in Aries as a bright, courageous presence in front of you.
  3. Inhale, feeling support from behind. Exhale, feeling a gentle forward pulse of confidence from the front.
  4. Wrap your arms around your ribcage or place hands on shoulders, as if giving yourself a firm, kind hug.
  5. Stay for a few minutes, letting the breath be natural. Whisper to yourself, “I am held, and I am free to be myself.”

    Archetype Spotlight:

Chiron in Aries, The Brave Wounded One

Chiron in Aries carries the wound around existence itself. The right to be here, to take up space, to act, to assert. This is the part of us that has learned to mask vulnerability with independence, or to push hard so no one sees how tender it feels underneath.

In Aries, Chiron does not want us to stay identified with the wound. He invites a courageous, straightforward relationship with where it hurts. To say, without drama, “this is where I feel small. This is where I am afraid.” And still to step forward. His medicine is simple and fierce. Each time we act in alignment with our deeper truth, even when our knees shake, a little more of the original life force returns.

    Presence Prompt
Close your eyes for a few breaths and ask:

Where in my life am I pretending to be strong, when what is really needed is honest, tender courage?

Feel the first situation that arises and simply stay present with the sensations it brings. No fixing, just witnessing.
